thinking about buying this 80

I would buy that truck, take out the 3fe, and put a 6bt motor in it. Sell the 3fe parts off of the 80 left over from the 6bt swap to guys here that need them. Everybody is happy.
hmmmm. That sounds good. I do have a 4.8ls that I could put in it. Then put the 3fe in my 40. Options

Barely enough power for the 80?
All the emission s*** is obsolete..... who cares?
Most them parts that are "no longer" available are simple to "adapt" from another vehicle. Worst case, good old CNC is standing by to produce.
Lol... 93-97 have what......25 extra hp? I don't know if you ever get to URE, or the coast, but I'd be willing to run it against any of your newer 80's. Bring cash though..... I don't do charity.
And maybe I'll get rid of the wife's Shelby 500 too..... parts are getting "hard" to find for that too.
A headgasket is not much a reason to trash a motor. Toyota has had lots of headgasket issues with motors they put aluminum heads on in the late 80s and early 90s. Install a modern new headgasket and your good forever. A 1fz is a better motor than almost every way. It has more support to the crank, overhead cams, and will last far longer than a 3fe. The 1fz is a 500k mile motor. It is also capable of far more power due to its robustness if forced induction is added. Their are quite a few 1fz powered vehicles out their that will beat a shelby gt500. That being said, the 3fe is not a bad motor, it is a good motor, but it is old and not powerful for the size of a 80. While you can keep one going by sourcing various sensors from other applications to keep it going and by using a cnc machine to fab your own parts, is it worth it? Most people just want a reliable landcruiser they can drive rather than putting in tons of labor and or money to keep a old tractor motor on the road. Can a 3fe be kept on the road today? Yes. Is it worth it? I think thats what Trollhole is saying. Thats up to each individuals circumstances to weigh such a decision. But for most people, it probably isn't worth it. And for those who feel its worth it, their reward is a reliably powered vehicle that stays in the slow lane. But it will always get you there and back if properly maintained.

Or buy another ls and just have a ls in both rigs. Once you do 1 swap, the second is always easier lol.
good point. I like the way you think. My old f engine just wont die. And I can do 75 on the highway so kinda hard to pull it.
