I passed on hitting up the Bonneville Salt Flats. Didn't feel like taking down the land speed record with the 1FZ-FE...

I've been sitting in the same JFK sports bar since you posted about giggle Springs.

You could've driven home quicker!

Fun fact: Nevada Highway Patrol don't have jurisdiction on BLM property. "A friend" stopped in the middle of nowhere to pee. Hadn't seen a car in over 60 miles. Just finished and a trooper pulled up. He informed my friend that it is illegal to pee on public property but that it was BLM property so he didn't have jurisdiction. My friend laughed and drove the 30 miles to Utah watching his rearview mirror the whole time.

Did you ask why Vegas smells like that? Is it all private property?

Dude! I didn't realize you were already here and gone! Wish I knew and swung by to say hello.

Best of luck on your trip.

Yeah, hit the road last night about 9:30. I like driving at night.

Got to hang with @jtwopark and saw @Dr Gil as he drove by.

Wanted to get on the road to get to Trail Tailor to pick up my stuffs.

How many gallons when the fuel light comes on? In the middle of a desert. 32 miles from the nearest gas station. 80 miles since you last saw a him being. Or had cell service.

Hey, I know you're a bit past this, but since you've got some miles to go... the fuel light comes on at gallon 21 of the 25 gallon tank. So technically, you had 4 gallons left (though, I'm not sure how much of the last gallon, the fuel pump can actually suck up).
Seeing as how your fuel light came on and you drove another 32 miles and then filled up 23.5 gallons, you're getting approximately 12.8 MPG. Just food for though. Cool journey, by the way!

I can tell you haven't showered in at least three days. I can smell you from here!

Fact!

I did pick up soap and a towel and was hoping to hit up a hot spring but the one that I knew where it was, was in close proximity to some militia camp or something. It seemed sketchy. And not in the good "Asian massage" kind of way.

I'm keeping detailed records of my mileage. Will compute so far at the end of the day. Curious to see how much the rack kills my mileage...

I think I need a 93/94

A few takeaways from my trip so far:

1) MUD is filled with class dudes (and ladies but I haven't met any of you personally, yet). Sure there are a couple of d bags but the number of quality people demolishes the few that suck. @jtwopark, thanks for running errands and hanging out. @NLXTACY thanks for the hospitality and all of your help from day one with this rig. It is exactly what you said it was. And those of you that convinced me to take the trip. I needed it. Sometimes you just need a little alone time. (Have fun with this one...)

2) Cavaretta's is the best meatball sub I've ever had. Ridiculous. It's located in West Hills or something. Near Joey.

3) BLM trails are pretty cool. We don't have that is Iowa. That was pretty insane. I would've liked to spend a whole day or three out there. As it was I went in farther than I should've, being alone. And no cell phone service. It was stupid. And worth it!

4) Del Taco hit the spot. And the Del Taco outside Park City, UT is THE place to eat on a Thursday evening. The talent was strong at that fast food joint.

5) I'm growing fond of the 1FZ-FE. 826 miles and it's a nice driving motor on the highway. Quiet. Can't complain. Only wheeled it about 10 miles and it did fine. But like @jonheld i think I will like my 3FE better on the trail.

Great write up - I've been following this for a while. Keep the trip reports coming. I will have to drive my wagon from SoCal to Orlando in June so I am keen to hear any advice you hand out.
