Awesome scenes as always. Do you normally camp/explore solo? If so, do you pack specific comms gear like a sat phone or other device in case of emergency? I'm envious of your adventures!
Yeah, I do a lot of stuff by myself. I don't worry about packing sat phones or emergency comms gear. I can usually climb to a high spot and get cell service in a lot of the areas I explore. I also like to know where the cell towers are located, if you can hike to a spot where you can see a peak with a cell tower than you got service.

Really my solution to emergencies is to make a plan and stick to it. I always let someone know exactly where I am going, what I am doing, and when I should be back. I usually let my father know the details on a map. He knows what to do if I don't check in or show up and he is certainly capable of correctly conveying my location to the appropriate authorities.

Other than that I always try to stay on top of maintenance so I don't have mechanical issues out in the boonies. I always go prepared with extra food, water, and supplies. And the most important thing when exploring alone is not to do stupid s*** and take unnecessary risks.

All that being said I do find myself thinking about a sat phone or Garmin spot thing on some of the more remote trips I do.

60 miles on the cruiser and 6 miles on foot.

With the massive migration of people coming to my neck of the woods there are more and more people getting stuck, broken down, or worse hurt because they have no idea what they are doing in some of the extremely remote, hot, dry and rugged country in this area.

These signs have been put up in the last few months to address the problem lol.

Matt's offroad recovery probably won't like these signs but I have a suspicion they will still be plenty busy.

Got out to do some boonie bashing and hiking/exploring today.

Today I was in the heart of some beautiful country. This area is right where two geological provinences meet, the Colorado plateau and the Great basin and Range.

It sure makes for some beautiful scenery.

Found some cool things while hiking.

You never know what the sands are hiding...

It is always so tempting to take artifacts when you find them but it is a quick way to get into some serious trouble and kind of disrespectful so it's always best to just take a photo and leave them for other people to enjoy or for cattle to step on and smash into fragments......

Found a cool little alcove/shelter in the sandstone cliffs.

Then I found a cool piece of petrified wood and what I think are some pieces of petrified coral. These are okay to keep.

I took the rocks to my neighbor, I gave him the piece of flint/petrified wood to tumble and had him cut the pieces of coral in half for a better look.

This day 4 years ago in the GC...

Inexplicably pertinent today.

I got a new PC and it likes to show me "this day" pictures. It is kind of cool to get daily reminders of all the fun trips I've done. It's also kind of creepy that my PC is tracking everything I do......

Getting some parts together in preparation to pull my arb's out to re-sea/rebuild the lockers.

Loving the new cruiser outfitters sticker!!!

Yep. Creepy is just the beginning. One day I’ll be arrested for something my phone heard me say.
Dood, I had a federal (canadian) symbol on my safari tab for my hotmail after following protesters on instagram for the truck convoy. It was there for a while, small icon top corner of the safari tab on the phone, disappeared after talking about it and showing to others at the office.

It's not just for the tin foil hat wearing folks..

I install government tracking equipment in every telephone, wireless and broadband office there is. Trust me there is a lot more than your computer or phone watching you....

More foraging for supplies...
