what king of mounts are you using for the LED's and where did you get the lights?

Lights were bought from their norwegian dealers. Rigid industries had a long waiting list as the claimed to have lots of orders.

Im using the mounts that came with the lights. The front ones are screwed in the alu tube using helicoil threads.

niiiice rack you got there

Damn thing has a mad max look to it.

Thank you. Actually, mad max - thunderdome was on tv one night i was working on it, maybe i have been subconsciously influensed...;)

Rack looks awesome! Looks like a scaled down version of what me and my dad built a few years ago for our old box trailer. And I love your little anecdotes throughout haha. And is that your shop in some of the pictures?! That place is huge!

Bringing back this old thread. I really like the rack. I was wondering how you decided on your material thicknesses and how has the rack been holding up?

Wow, long time no h8mud'ing...

Dunno how its holding up as i sold it some years ago (i sold the 100), and at that time it was still like new. It should have held up good, the alu alloys used are typical marine use alloys so in a wet and salty environment (like a norwegian coastal winter) it would have gotten a light grey patina over time.

The material thickness was deciced by my own speculations of what i thought it should be, how light i wanted it to be and my metal dealers stocked dimensions :)

I i where to build one again i would probably make something similar, and definitely keep it "in the white" as other roofracks ive had has been prone to paint scratches developing quickly into flaking.

Sooo... I'll revive this old thread hopefully with a continuation of the gamiviti foot kit + DIY welded tube stock rack build. I'm relatively new to welding but want to take this on as a first major project. I plan to build this in the coming month... I would appreciate any pointers and or tips from those of you that have done this. I friggen love the Gamiviti expo ++ with 3 towers per side and some of the floor gridded. I just feel like I want to try my hand at fabbing this up. I need to have the ability to run a roof top cargo carrier on two cross bars or a roof top tent (future purchase) and I'd like to get my maxtrax up there as well as some other odds and ends. Possibly run a fork mount bike rack up there and store the front wheel elsewhere because the hitch is soooo low on the 100 series that I lose all of my ground clearance and it makes it more of a pain to swing away the bike rack to get to my cargo area.

So my questions are:
What material should I use?
Any help on bending the curved sections of pipe around the corners and to connect the expo to the main flat frame rails? What do you use? What are the best ways to make it consistent?
What kind of design/drawings do I need as a guide? I can draw/model about anything but don't want to overdo it if not needed...
Powdercoat? Raw Alum?

THe last question is... am I a fool to think that I can weld one of these up and connect it to the feet that Gamiviti offers?

Thanks mudders!

Nice build, I love the gamiviti look. I liked the Prinsu rack look so I copied their design, used 80/20 aluminum rails, bought their wind deflector, some aluminum angle stock and flat aluminum stock. Cost about half to make.
