Time for an update I suppose...
Its been a while since I've updated this thread, so I suppose I have a few things to add...
I finished up replacing the bad motor mount, then it pretty much just sat there for a few weeks while I waited for my "White Knuckle Off Road" sliders to come in the mail. I got them on a Thursday afternoon, primered them and bolted them up before work on Friday, then drove out to Stockton the next day for the annual swapmeet.
The swapmeet was great this year, with a lot of trucks that I didn't get to see last year due to arriving waaaaayyy too late. It was cool to walk around and check out all the beautifully restored and/or built up rigs, and hangout with some of the people I've met throughout the last year and a half, and some that I met there that day. It was nice to finally be able to have a conversation with people that understand what a 2F, H-55, 12H-T, FJ55, etc. actually is!
I ended up driving away from George's shop with a receiver hitch, a set of tail lights, the panels and grab handle for the rear hatch, a stock trans/transfer skidplate, and a spare carb cooling fan that he basicly dropped in my lap and said, "here take this too".
KMWalker's truck was stuck in George's shop at this point, and he had already filled up his dad's van with a set of front door for a 60 and a few other bits, so I offered to carry anything else that didn't fit, and being that I'd pass his house on my way home anyway, it was not like it was going to cost me anything to help him out.
In preparation for a trip I had planned, I made a replacement for the MAF swaybar drop link that sheared in half earlier this year, and got the swaybar re attached.
So I had decided that I wanted to take a fishing trip early in the Sierra trout season, so I took a Friday off, loaded the 60 up, and hit the road. I originally intended on going to the Bridgeport, Ca area but ended up changing plans last minute due to a few friends backing out of the trip. Instead I ended up going to Kennedy Meadows, up HWY 108 just at the base of the Sonora Pass. It was a very enjoyable solo trip, and despite not catching a thing, I ended up fishing about 3 or 4 miles of river (I'll be working on improving that this summer...). Late Saturday night I was woken up by hail beating against my tent, and the flashes and booming of lightning and thunder roaring through the valley. It was very entertaining to watch and listen to. ... These weekends never last long enough...
So now for the photo dump that seems to follow every trip I take....

Later in the day I came across what I hope was the grave for someone's dog....

In the same relative area I found an old diversion tunnel for a dam. It was pretty cool, although it was starting to crumble apart.

And last but not least, the worst part of most trips; heading home.
