Do it!!

On the power steering issues - mine did the same and I braced myself for a pump rebuild, only to find that the idler for the PS belt had frozen up and wasn't putting enough tension on the belt. Cheap & easy fix, and probably be the best place to start looking.

Good Luck, and sweet Cruiser - I love those wheels. Do they have the removeable trim for the beadlock, or are they part of the wheel?

yup and we should get some extra this weekend.. I need to get BeBe up in the snowy areas (found out the tires I have not really are not great in the snow).

Just finished reading through your entire thread, beautiful rig. Great job thus far, amazed that your rig has less miles on it than my 80. I apologize but this is so sig worthy,
...when it comes down to it, its just a few screws and a little tugging.

LMAO! I didn't even notice that when I typed it out! And thanks for all the complements! The truck just recently turned 191k. :)

There are more compliments about your rig than you see here on MUD pages. I found out about your rig from some fellow MUDders who attended "Turf N Surf" and mentioned you were camped nearby. So bummed I missed it, but mortgage took precedent. The group was a couple 80 owners (one wrapped in a matte grey vinyl), and a bunch of FJC knuckleheads (good friends) who were apparently trying to see who could dig their rig the deepest into the sand.

Hey man, the 60 is looking awesome. I'm glad that a mud member picked it up. Sometimes I still wish I could have traded my truck for it, but my 80 rocks. I have decided though, one day ill have a silver 60.

Awesome thread mate! Love what you've done, I may have missed it but any reviews on the quietcrap?
I'm looking to sound deaden my 60 soon, and as I'm in Australia there isn't much local stuff I can find and the stuff from the US costs an arm and a leg to post so I want to make sure I get the right stuff when I do.
Has it reduced the noise a lot? And any effect on temperature inside the truck?

Thanks man, keep up the awesome work!

If I get up early enough tomorrow morning, I'll take a little video for you, and try to have it up after I get off work.

Thought I might just add here that my LandCruiser has been relieved of its daily driver duties by a 1991 Toyota MR2. Needed to save some money on gas, wanted to get out and drive with my car group, and above all else, stop putting excessive city miles on the 60!

And I guess this is also my 400th post too... cool.

So here's my new car:

I'm sorry if I've missed some of your guys' posts or not replied directly, I've been kind of preoccupied lately with having just finished up my vocational training, trying to get college classes lined up for winter quarter, working, and finding a commuter car.

Well my plans to go to the snow this week fell through with buying the new car, I need all the work hours I can get right now.

What school are you going to? I'm in South San Jose though so if your ever in the area, let me know and we could meet up.

holy crap just finished the thread. nice work on the rig! mine has a long way to go before it looks that good! you and RobustBambi are my inspiration for rigs for me as a younger cruiser owner also (19).

i am going to feather river college in Quincy CA. unfortunately i dont have a garage to work in up there so i have taken over my parents garage over winter break and have been wrenching nonstop on Bessie since Dec14 lol.

i know what you mean with work hours. i got a nice $600 taxidermist bill for a bobcat im getting tanned for a rug...:crybaby:

i bounced an idea around with robustbambi about maybe making a 60 series "young adult" tech thread for 60s since it seems like there are a good number of younger LC owners, what do you think?

Thanks for the compliments! And congratulations on being dedicated enough to go through all those pages! It means a lot to me when so many forum members think my truck is nice; its not perfect yet though! :p

That would be cool I guess, but we wouldn't want to deter new or perspective members from the main 60 series section, plus there are lot of younger guys that drive other LC's too, and they would each need to have a section for their respective generation of truck. I think what would work best would perhaps be a "Young Adult LandCruiser Owner's" section that would encompass all the generations of LC's, or something of that nature anyway. If you guys want to get something like this going, I would support it.

no problem man, i love reading the build threads for inspiration. if you want to do some light wheeling next week for a day im going to be going back to Carnegie SVRA once i put in my new shift solenoid and do my knickle renuild. i went today and the crawling sections are looking to get really good with all the rain coming up. i drove a couple nice sections today and was liking it and i ran out of time to do a quarry rock section.

i know im a newer member here since coming out of lurker mode, but i think a young adult section would be cool so we can BS about whatever, finals, girls/guys, and must have college mods for our rigs. for instance im looking into making a 30 rack holder for the back of the truck just for fun.

I cant make it next week, that's when school is starting for me. Maybe next time though!

If you want to get that section made, maybe you should pitch it to Woody. https://forum.ih8mud.com/member.php?u=1720
