Don't mean to pollute this thread (I will delete if OP wants it gone), but just for clarity, the FSM calls for a puller on the steering wheel but I've pulled about 5 or 6 of them on different trucks and only one time I did need to use a puller - wheel would not budge without it. Carry on! :p

@ToyotaMatt will be supplying brand new parts for the reassembly.
There are in fact a bunch of new parts ready to go on this truck as soon as I get my hands on them.

Looks like putty but it was silicone. Don't make it any better anyhow.
 
Alright, she's ready to go! Albeit, there are still a couple things needing sorting, she can finally go home. Came on a flat bed, going home under its own power! This baby runs and drives beautifully! Many thanks to the owner for sourcing OEM parts and to @ToyotaMatt for working his magic and making nla parts still available.
