Lol, sadly it probably looks about the same. I still need to finish up a couple more pieces of stone. Hopefully that will happen sooner than later, maybe even this weekend if I get a wild hair.

Famous last words...

This made me laugh tonight. Was going back thru the progress and ran across your post. Sadly I was "cleaning" tonight trying to get some floor space cleared. The 40 parts gotta find a new home stat so I can have my garage back.

Yeah it is. And around here there are a ton of yuppies that just eat that stuff up, you know the ones who will pay for artisan firewood... So the prices reflect the market. I got a couple buddies that tear down barns and such, so hopefully if I need some I can get the friends and family discount.

I need a beam to make a new mantel (as I mentioned) and I need some shiplap or something to make a sliding bedroom door.
I actually thought about using pallet wood. Probably be just as good.

Sand it sparingly just to prevent splinters and then spray it with a clear satin.

Back on the barn for a while today. Tired of working in the dirty and ready to get this thing cleaned up and work ready.

Got another wall framed and located the main box.

I am going to see about picking up some boxes and some 12ga wire this week so I can start pulling some circuits in.

Hopefully I can get another wall section or 2 up tomorrow. If I can get this end walled, wired and sheets then it will go a long way towards getting some floor space freed up as I can get my wall cabinets hung and out of the floor. Slow and steady seems to be our gear. Hopefully I can make some steady progress as long as my A.D.D. will let me stick with this for more than a minute. Especially since this will open up my ability to move on with some of the other projects that are languishing...

Well, I was piddling this afternoon after clearing some stuff out of the garage and got tired of trying to remember if there was a reason why I hadn't kept the lane behind the barn cleared, so today I decided to see.

Mowed, graded and then spread a little excess gravel on one end. So now I know and can keep it a little cleaner around there.

Worked inside the barn today. Finished framing the end wall, got boxes set and pulled wire and will work on getting some insulation in the wall tomorrow after church before the hayride. Could have done it this afternoon, but had to call it a day to get ready for trunk-or-treat tonight.

Middle section in

Pulled the cabinets out and got the last section in to finish the end wall framing.

Set 4 boxes and pulled wire for the first circuit.

Set the 3-gang for the switches while I was at it.

I am pleased with today's progress. Need to get a little blocking in and then insulation and we will be ready to sheet the wall, hang cabinets and set the work-bench up which will free up some floor space to continue to framing. Slow and steady, but getting there...

Picked up our new table today. 7'3" x 3'6", solid red oak. The wood came out of my grand-dad's barn. Been sitting for 30+ years. Top is hand planed, 2" sawmill slabs. Base and legs are cut from the same 2" slabs.

The pictures really don't do it justice.

This one is closer to the actual color.

Thus one gives some scale.

Should seat 8 comfortably, 10 if we really like each other.

Well I finally took a minute (more like most of the afternoon) and finished the fireplace surround.

Where it got left off.

And the final product.

Glad to finally check that one off. Now onto the next project in progress...

Cold as :censor: out there and we got between 2" and 3" out here today. It is amazing how quiet it is when it snows. Very surreal.

Anyway, it sure is pretty.

Hannah seemed to enjoy it.

And so did Erin

We'll see how much stays around and what the roads look like tomorrow. I gotta get Erin to her office. I'm guessing we will be fine, but we shall see.

Fireplace looks great.
I have been working on our place too. The weather keeps delaying the deck. First it was hurricane Maria because i was supppsed to build it in October but was gone to Puerto Rico for three weeks. Luckily the OT paid for the deck! Then it was holiday travel. Now it is snow and rain.

Deck looks great. That is on our list for this year. What did you make the railing panels out of? I like it and may copy it on ours.

Also dig that door. Oh and feel free to Hijack anytime :)

I used goat panels from Tractor Supply. Ripped 2x4s down to 2 inches fir the frames and then routed a 3/8 slot in them to secure the panels. Drilled some 1/4 weep holes in the bottom one so water would not sit in them. It was difficult getting going but once I did two I figured out the solution.

The door is blue pine I found at Lowes. I wanted to use old barn wood but it just was not convenient to get what I needed. The only issue so far is that the track has holes 22 inches in center so I won't hit the studs without drilling new holes or mounting it to a long piece of metal or some other type of nailer. I was going to use a 1 by nailer but it will stand the door off the jamb too far.

Starting to take some baby steps toward putting up a similar building/shop in the back yard. What are your thoughts now that you've lived with your building for a little while now? Any lessons learned? While the DIY kit looks intriguing, would you build it yourself again, have portions built, or pay someone else to do it?

Good to see you at MardiKrawl although it was brief.

Hey Tony, it was good to see you too. Hopefully we will have the 40 at GSMTR and will get to wheel a little with you guys some.

As far as the barn, that might warrant a phone call. Lots of thoughts I can share. I think I have your number, I will give you a buzz tomorrow afternoon if that's ok to chat.
