But, two of three bolts had no plan to move, maybe should have hammered a dril point while they were on, two broke off, black metal powder is whats left of them.

All three are straight trough so could replace with bolt and nut and drill the thread away.
Very happy with this easy maintenance job ,nothing was broke so why did I do this? :slap::cheers: I need

Many options can be considered as a cure before they broke of, but they broke :poop::hmm::wrench::crybaby:
And they got loose:banana: :flipoff2:

But I need the gasket, 2 dollar part with 20 dollar shipping or more.
My parts guy is retired since this month , but no more knowledge from him :notworthy:

HJ60 thermostat part number# 16341-68010 gasket thermostat upper toyota landcruiser HJ47 HJ75 HJ60 HJ61
Bolt is M8x1.25 partnumber 9161160822
And the housing got out fine, tapping with a teflon hammer:

I rather weld with fluxcore wire for this as the wire it thin and far easier to work with, get the bolt on as far as possible (but left and right turn must be possible to start release with T-handle) and weld red hot in one fluid action, more than you think it can handle.
A bigger nut has more room for a nice pile of red hot weld, less chance the wrench does not fit over it anymore:

This summer we will visit Croatia again so a long trip with trailer trough the alps and I could never have removed the thermostat if needed/overheating so I think removing the housing as maintenance is good practice.

The title of this thread reminds me that when I was in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago I saw a red 90's troopy parked on the street. After seeing that I started browsing the used vehicle ads for that part of Europe and it looks like a decent place to pickup lhd cruisers for a reasonable RORO home.

Seth S are you sure it was a troopy and not a red post office collection box? ;)
Rules have changed here and a (1978) 40 year old car has no road tax, 50 years no road tax and no road check.
My HJ is 2600 euro road tax a year until 2025 so many have been sold to other countries (europe rule: oldtimer is 25 year)
Anyway, what a nice day to work outside:

Then the rubber grommet from the hood rod broke and I am just glad I did not loose the latch as it was completely loose,
Replaced two rubber grommets to hold it in place, one in the hole and one snug fit at the end of the rod, on the other side:

The gasket arrived and is 0.8 mm, the thermostat came with a rubber O ring that can be fitted arount it but then it would not fit in the housing.
it is also not in the pictures of parts, maybe other model?

A simple maintenance repair but I am glad it worked out :wrench:  Should be no problem to remove this on the road in the coming years if overheating.

Wanted to order the original bolts but then again it would end up on the scrapyard, now thinking should have ordered them, only 60 cents.

Filling up coolant later and hoping it does not leak/warped.

Next is removal and maintenance check of injectors, Ordered the 6 crush injector nozzle gasket seat to inspect and adjust the injectors.
Old part; 1117747010
Has a funny dome and not clear how to install

New part:GASKET, INJECTION NOZZLE SEAT Part number: 1117754011
is normal round foolproof gasket.

Nothing to fix anymore  I want to replace the injectors for a checkup but still gathering howto info.
One week from now 1400 kilometers to Croatia with the boat trailer again :steer:

We have some serious lack of water and crops are not growing enough:

Another holiday to Croatia without any problem, 3500 kilometers, not one flat tire so replacing all old tubes with new fixed that, don't be cheap like me and throw old tubes away.

The Austria border Slovenia alps overnight, had a nice thunder strom, waiting to blow up in sparks, but survived:

Cres island also has a blue hole, later we used the boat to visit it, down there.

Did not do the damaging stuff, just dead slow testing a bit, never goy stuck, fine, ok

file.php

So, no more repairs, just driving it, next summer new rotors, but nothing wrong at this moment!

In the beginning this hill was easy, but when the mud was more mud after all the spinning it needed 1st gear and 3000 rpm and floor it to get up,also one time in second gear but did not like that for the clutch.
ROAARRRRRRRRRRRR, oke, yes the reverse light is on, tried slow first.
