I was just there... Is it cool to get them at the next meet? Should get me motivated to get my other project done so I don't show up where you can see my awful tube notching.
I drove down to Tucson last night with Jackson. Believe me, this 80 is not anywhere near the condition of your 80, Phil.
Seemed to have hail damage or shopping cart damage. Each panel had a problem. Roof had no rack and was in bad shape....holes were not bondo'd right. CB antenna mount or something had been drilled into the center of the roof. Now just a bolt/nut was sticking out. Vehicle has been repainted white at Maaco. Didn't try the A/C. Front of engine looked dry he had the right cover plates on the transmission and above the steering stabilizer.
Rear pinion leaked, front axle needs to be rebuilt, PS pump&box leaks, rear main or oil pan leaks, lockers blink but don't engage. When we arrived, the engine was already warm...It did start up nice and no weird sounds while driving it around the parking lot. CEL was on.
OEM stereo unit worked well, aftermarket speakers in the doors. Antenna was stuck mid-way. Rear Pass window didn't work right.
Sunroof opened and closed and lifted correctly.
Side view mirrors were in good shape (not wobbly). Front ARB bumper looked good (for and ARB bumper). Aftermarket lights were not hooked up and were not mounted securely to ARB bumper. Rear bumper is not ARB, pretty crazy looking...
Jack/toolbag was there, looked complete. Seats were in usual condition (cracked). Carpet kit needed a good scrubbing.
In the end, I couldn't see myself driving around in it "as-is" and there wasn't enough good parts to recover $2600 that he said he would take...And I didn't feel like spending the next couple of weeks figuring out the CEL, just to get it registered.
I'll keep looking....![]()
lockers blink but don't engage.
...
metalic champagne, desert dune, I don't know what you call it color.
...
IIRC, the original brochure listed the name of that color as fresh morning log?![]()
No goals, just mad dreams!!
I'd like a cruiser like yours. And one like Phil's. And one like Kevin's....all in one!
But, keep it as stock looking as possible
Your's is very clean, all blinged out with LED tail lights, white dash, projector? headlights, and a nice, better than white, metalic champagne, desert dune, I don't know what you call it color.
Phil has a very smart off the grid, rock crawler, outback, bush whacker, no leaks, no dents, expo vibe.
Kevin has a custom 3 link, he builds it best, pink panty, BTDT, special. And I mean "special" like "gifted" special not like "short bus" special.
Can anyone guess which of the above rigs has the low range gears and computer navigation?
All very nice! Not to diminish the many other cool rigs that show up at the meet or are discussed on this forum:whoops:
(Which fits better: insert -foot in mouth? or -Keyboard in ass?)
Too many cruisers to list...too many coveted features...
Maybe I need more goals and less dreams
But, dreaming is free![]()
