The Defender 90s always make me perk up a little.

But my truck is a toy I don't really need, hard to justify something less practical than something I don't really need.

Man, they look good though.

Funny thing...when I came down to VT last sat, I noticed about 8 or more white ones. Not too sure if they were 90's, but they where all white, with one blue one, and they were all sitting at the border waiting for a lift it seemed.

Nice little rig.

you were in VT?

did you go to tykes?

Definitely. A big part of my previous WW success was that I was walking 2-4 miles 6 or 7 days a week. I'm going to start that up again.

Just hang in there. I know WW pretty well. A few in my family have had great success.

I've gone up and down myself...admittedly, not as high as what you are going through...but the biggest thing I found with any, and all "diets" I have tried, or looked into, the basic element was self control and getting out and about.

Dave, you've done it before, and you'll do it again I'm sure. Just be easy on yourself, and enjoy it as you go along. What ever you do, don't get down if you missed a "marker" you were trying to reach by any one day. Just look forward, and go for an extra walk! Another thing is to get busy doing something else...like building the 80...which should keep your mind off of other things ;)

Nope...too far for right now. I dropped in on K to pick up my new/your old top ;)

It was a quick little trip, too much on my plate at home, but we'll be back soon :)

rock on dave. i remember when you lost the weight. my friend who was over 400 just dropped 180. once you do this atkins thing, get back on the WW style of eating. i did it for a while and it really taught me how to eat better. you can totally do it and as you already know its totally worth it!

good for you Dave:cheers:

sold the choppa today. :crybaby:

Shipping out to Florida as of tomoorw or monday.

Now to gather all the parts from my friend on cape for the next one. He has a 79 Triumph Bonnie 750 in 4 different boxes in 4 different houses he wants me to take- if he can find all the parts. Motor was completely gone through 8 years ago and never run. :bounce:

I am thinking a 6" over hardtail and coca-cola metallic brown/ cream colors. Muhahaaa.....

by the way, good for you Dave. That is a tough road.

Dave- Since you've announced publicly, you should start a thread on your weight loss adventure. Not that any of us would ever judge you but posting up every Friday how you did for the week might keep you motivated. I'm sure a daily dose of encouragement from all of us will certainly help you out along the way.

Throw in some good recipes that you find and good anecdotes and I think you'll have some fun with it all!

Thanks, I really do appreciate the encouragement, I'll post progress here as I go along to keep me motivated. My scale only goes up to 330 so (sadly) I've got some work to do before I can post any numbers.

{sigh}

Good for you Dave. I was around 320lbs a few years ago and dropped the weight and feel much better. I went on the south beach diet at the time. The really hard part of keeping the weight off is permanently altering your eating habits. Eating healthy and of the proper portions is the key to keeping the weight off and it has to become second nature otherwise it's just a matter of time until the weight goes back on. My wife doesn't adjust her portions, she just eats diet foods and has never had any success with controlling her weight. Unfortunately I think food will be the cause of her death one day.

Screw the numbers!!! Keep us up on what you're doing. Don't obsess over the numbers or you'll make yourself crazy and get down on yourself (note the sigh at the end of your post)

I was thinking more of an online diary to track your progress in new things you're trying. Moral support from all of us can go a long way.

You're gonna look like my avatar in no time!!

I wish you the best of luck!!!

We know you can do it Dave!

This is too true, I have tried to do every diet that is out there...most success was WW, but as Landtank states and I firmly agree, its all about changing the eating habit/lifestyle, but I know personally, its the hardest thing to do. I struggle daily with it as well. At my job a group of us very recently started a "weight loss club" and are using the WW approach. I sadly was way out of control last week with Thanksgiving, but hopefully I can get my act together again. Your not alone in this battle Dave!!!! I feel your pain!

yup (that is to land tank and mad jack)... that is why i loved WW (my god, are we a bunch of :princess:s?). WW taught me what a portion was.

i mean, how else was i going to learn that a 24 oz rib eye with an entire baked potato is not a normal portion? geeeeze...

if you arent doing WW then i suggest tracking the weight in a spreadsheet and graphing it... i am very visual and to see that line go down and down and down to the right was so satisfying...

Dave, you need to know the numbers. I heard that if you got another scale, and put the two side by side with a plank across the both of them, and then got on the plank, that the added numbers of both scales should be to with-in a couple of pounds of your actual weight...that is how places like WW use to do it in the past, (or so I was told) now they have scales that go past 450 or something.

You should try out the above, or just go to a weekly, or monthly weigh in at WW...you need to keep track.

Would you like for us to weigh in once a week with you? I don't have much more to lose, but if it will help, I'll post up my numbers once a week, and I'm sure the rest here will step up to encourage you...and maybe each other?

Just let us know:beer:

If you get BBC America...watch a show called "You Are What You Eat". The host's approach is entertaining and provides some motivation.

you guys are awesome, seriously. :) :)

I think my answer might just be to join WW again, it worked before, and along with my online support, I get the regular-weigh ins and support group there.
