I am excited that I can finally post up in this thread with a couple of pieces of my own:bounce:

I had a 425, 5 or so years ago but the expansion tube for the tank was rusted up and it ended up getting recycled by my mother:frown:

I found these two at an antique store in June but waited to buy them until now. Got both of them for $20. The 425E came with two expansion tubes, one still in the package, as well as the original purchase receipt from April 27, 1979, when this unit cost $22.63. It was missing the tank, but had literally never been used:grinpimp: The first time it was fired was today when I used the tank that came with the 425F.

The 425F is in a little rougher condition, but definitely still has some life left. The burners are rusted and the paint has some rust, but is a good candidate for restoration. The tank, however, is dirty but rust free and had fuel in it when I purchased it. Who knows how long the fuel has been sitting in there, but the plunger was well oiled and held pressure perfectly when I pumped it. As I mentioned above, I pumped it up, hooked it up to the 425E and lit it up. She burns perfectly:D

I intend to use the 425E for what it was bought for in '79. The 425F will be completely disassembled and restored. I am pumped:bounce2:

 I'm not the only one who has a replacement generator in old packaging. Mine is a bit more beatup as it's been lugged all over waiting to be needed.

awesome!!! super good condition

Great finds!

My wife has officially barred me from buying more stoves or lanterns... so now I just put them in the shop and say "I bought that years ago" :D

We have a green metal Coleman cooler, just like the ones you can now get at REI. Theirs cost $100 and don't have the bottle openers built into the handles. Ours does, and it cost us $7 at a garage sale. I love that cooler.

I have a Colemand Peak 1 hiker stove. My mom gave it to my dad for Christmas in 1983, it was made in 82. I've been carrying it camping, making coffee, cooking breakfast and dinner on it for the last 20 years myself. Nver needed any service (well, it does now, the last breakfast a couple weeks back, it had a leak at the base and caught a bit on fire, but went out as I moved to throw it in the creek). My dad has a spot inhis heart for the old Colemans and if he's at a yard sale, and spots one, it leaves with him. he tinkers with them and gets them squared away and puts them up. He has an old red single mantle that's like new and last year I bought him a US military coleman that runs on gas. He said he used them in Vietnam. It still had the original spare parts kit and funnel with it. It was $25. They have another think I'll go pick up. I guess I'm old school like a lot yfo you guys I know there are faster, lighter stoves, but I'd rather tote around the Colemans or just cook on the fire.

Just a couple of my latest buys:

My favorite single-burner stove, the Peak 1 400. Super-fine simmer adjustment.

those stoves are bad ass!!!

Yeah, the 400 is the model I have, and a little secret I'll share- I've sen the on ebay for cheap, some with an unused case. The previous pic didn't clarify, the little square pot and holder are also part of the storage case for the stove. Mine looks like it's rolled down a mountain, but I've seen some on ebay for $20-30 that are like new.

Those 400 stoves seem to have caught on. I never see them go for less than $50 anymore, on ebay, even without the alum carrier, a bit more with it. I've tried to pick up a well-used one for my bug-out-box, but I can't get one cheap. One of those small stoves and a gallon of white gas will hold you quite a while.

The one on the right, in the above pix, was sputtering pretty bad, with a giant yellow flame, but I used the torch technique on the generator and now it works great!

And cleaned up.:hillbilly:

Very cool, you should post that on the Spirit Burner forum (yes a forum just for stove & lamp nerds like us).

Well done!

I wish I had all the original parts for it. And it's not all original either, someone has replaced the pump, the fuel cap, and brazed a bar on for the valve. It's also missing 2 of the fold out grates for putting the pot on. And I don't have the case. But the thing fired up like a champ once I cleaned all the rust out of the fount. All in all I'm happy with it.

Just a few pieces from my collection!
