The Best Rear Bumper Out There!

I was an owner of a Foers Ibex for 7 years, just sold it earlier this month :crybaby:

I had the vector winch system - and it was great. Ran it with an 8274 and syntheic rope no problems.

One thing to bear in mind, it puts the chassis under tremendous compression loads. The Ibex is way stronger than the equivalent Land Rover it was based upon, but it still needed plenty extra reinforcement.

If your chassis isn't strong enough - good way to shorten your wheelbase

Hope it helps

I was just out in western Colorado driving through some small town and saw a white 80 with a rear winch mount bumper that looks a lot like this one - must have been one of Lukes kits/creations. I need to find the pics I took and compare.

Great bumper~!

Nope. A 35x10.5x16 (yes, that is 10.5) SSR fits behind the 3rd row perfectly. It stays pressed between the lower hatch and seats, doesn't touch the glass, and the stock cargo tie downs prevent any rolling side to side, leaving room for tool bags, first aid kit, etc. on each side, with the hi lift residing on the floor between the tire and 3rd row. My spare rear driveshaft will sit on top of the hi-lift.

Same visibility issues (minimal) as a tire carrier. No extra weight, no swing out, wrapped that sucker up in plastic so it doesn't stink. Free. Perfect :D

Pic shows the tire offset, which you could do, but I have it centered now so it will strap down tight.

Not bad, that solution wouldn't work for me tho. We are usually packed to the gills when we go camping/etc and use all the space behind the second rows. Good thinking tho.

;p

If I didn't need the third row for kiddos, I'd lay it flat behind the second and build a platform over it. I did this to free my roof rack for camping :D

Auxilary fuel tank with this bumper

With this set-up does the removal of the frame horns and the winch prevent you from using one of the aftermarket auxiliary fuel tanks?

I looked into the Toyota 13gal. Aux tank and it was just a little too big to fit in there. So now I am looking at sourcing an aftermarket that will fit or just have one built to fit.

Hey Corbet, long time no see! Thanks, I'll give Summit a look and see if they have something that would fit.
