To each their own is my motto. I love the direction of this build.

I always caught crap for the OM617 and NV4500s or 454/ TH400 or 4BT/H55F.... I'd put in 40s and 60s and E-Bronco years ago. Now I've stepped up to cruise and connect LS3 and 4L65E Erod crate packages mated to a HF2A. Power, mileage, and cheap rebuild parts (if needed) that are available at any parts store in almost every town you stop in (North and South America easily).

So many rustled jimmies...
The decision has been made.
Thanks for your input.

I agree with a lot of the sentiments expressed. I personally think diesel would be the way to go. Still waiting to see a nasty cummins dropped in a 70. That said I’m stoked to see this build. Following.

I just got underway on a Cummins 6BT/75 series/80 series chassis.

Yeah, I don't intend on altering my build plan because a few strangers on the interwebs are bummed out. :D

For the money you are spending , a 1HD-T would make a nice implant and a vehicle with a good resale value. The Landcruisers in Australia with SBC implants always go to the scrap heap first, they seem to get turned over fast from owners not entirely happy with them.

Now now. Everyone here loves Land Cruisers.

Read the thread and if you need what I think is a great inexpensive body guy to address and rust or paint issues, "I know a guy." Didn't take the time to see your 20 so you may be a long way from Portland.

Best of luck w the build.

I swear I read a different post from you earlier about how this is a public forum and you don't get to pick your lap dances. Did you delete that?

Cheers

I really have never understood why people feel the need to express their opinions in a persons build thread.

#1: The person who owns the truck doesn't care what your opinion is.

#2: If a person wants advice or opinions in a build thread they will ask for it. Pretty simple concept to follow.

#3: Expressing your opinion in persons build thread makes people not want to share their truck or the build. Like it or not that is how it is.

#4: It is rude.

#5: Have some respect for what a guy wants to do with is own truck, love it or leave it!

#6: Didn't your mama teach you some manners? Don't have anything constructive or positive to say, zip it!

#7: This thread has had more views since Tony posted it (for the amount of time it has been on here) than just about any other thread here in the 70-section in recent years. That means lot's of people are interested in the build, they just don't feel the need to post their opinions or whatever.

#8: I have had a number of v8 Cruisers, haters are going to hate. That is what they do. I have also had and built crazy diesels. No matter how you slice it, a nice v8 is the most bang for the buck hands down. Millions of people own v8 swapped trucks and have put hundreds of thousands of miles on them with no issues. So, try it before you hate it!

#9: 9 out of 10 people who put down a v8 swap or whatever have never driven a v8 Cruiser. If they have chances are 50/50 it was a junk hack job swap.

#10: Who in their right mind wouldn't think this is an awesome build and be excited to watch it unfold is beyond me, especially since it is not YOUR MONEY! Ya know, Tony or myself don't have to post anything at all about the truck. It isn't like he is looking for a bunch of people here to hug his nuts!

Cheers

Personally, I am a huge fan of diesels, and don't have any problem chugging along in the slow lane. That said, I can totally understand the desire for a 70-series that can really haul on the highway, especially here in North America. I am also a big fan of driving something unique, something that few others have (thats why most of us here have 70-series, right?!?) It doesn't get more unique than this build, and I'm excited to see how it turns out. Kudos to @TonyP for having a crazy awesome idea and then putting it into practice. It's gonna be epic!

Thanks.
I'm not opposed to diesels either. Infact I did a ton of research on them and was almost dead set on a 1HD-FT (or E) before coming to the V8 conclusion. It's impossible to avoid staggering difference in $ per hp or tq that comes with the V8 as opposed to a Toyota diesel. It's not like I pulled an engine out of a hat like others here may think. I've done research and have experience. I wasn't too familiar with Toyota diesels before hand, now I know a semi-decent bit about them. Not to mention the plethora of other positives going with a V8. The only thing holding me back was it wasn't a Toyota engine. But a good powerplant is a good powerplant, and like it or not, the L92 is a good powerplant. So we'll see how it turns out.

I have to agree, for North America a modern Chevy V8 is appealing. I've mulled the idea over for my truck. Higher highway speeds, good MPG, parts from any Autozone or NAPA, gas available more readily than diesel (at least in town around me)... I'll be interested to see how this turns out.
You shut your face right now sir. :-) I hear ya on the above, im still debating on rebuilding a 1hdft or not.

You dont get to choose who answers your posts. Its not a singles bar where you get to choose who you dance with. Take it somewhere else if you cant stand it being criticised.

See man that is really rude.

What if I said something similar in your recent thread in chitchat about losing your friend?

And everybody here does get to choose because of this ignore option we have.

Cheers

I saw you're planning on running an auto tranny. Any reason you didn't want to keep it manual? What sort of manual options exist that mate to a Toyota TC? Could you possibly run an H55 behind an LS/LQ engine? Or is that asking for immediate gearbox failure?
