Do you believe the Dobinsons stabilizer to be better than OME?
I had the OME. If anything this feels heavier both in the weight of the item and the steering feel.

Jumped in the tractor and drove to Florida after only checking the tires. Our TDI broke the dipstick tube, so I loaded the 60 instead and left.

True racetractor zen.

Those orange plastic TDI dipstick tubes are ridiculous.

Race-tractor. Love it

Is that uncorrected with stock 3.70's or are you actually holding up traffic? Either way is fine by me. FJ60's are luxury after driving old VW buses.
Uncorrected. 72mph and drafting semis for maximum slingshot

I truly love and hate that car.

I could have made the trip on $120 in diesel.

Time for an old W123 or W126 Diesel Benz, it will be as slow as the 60, but reliable as gravity and better mileage.

I love those cars. I don’t know what my next step is, but it will be dumb. I promise.

This isn't the 60 series porn, but if Grace knew I was looking at this she would likely blow a gasket.
I want to enable everyone to drive their 60 more. I hope that gets you in trouble.

Your shared experience has helped me many times in the past several years. One day, near Moab, we will drink fine beers or replace a U-joint. One is still legal here.

I try to make an effort to meet 60 people as I travel the country. I'll keep this in mind!

The last road trip I took in Mama, she fried the smog pump on I35. Look at her go.
Mama bear don't care. I've put on 68,000 miles since I got her from you.

It's tried, but never left me and most of the near misses were my fault.

The pest control guy at the hotel I'm staying at really liked the truck, I caught him taking a video too.

How about that roof dent?

Proof that the truck gets used. Not a ton of miles in 2022, but that’s still good for an old tank.

I caught up on a few things that I’ve been putting off with the help of @cruisermatt

I’ve been all over the place for work over the last few months. Spot to spot. No time for small jobs on the truck.

I went to Matt’s shop for a meet up while I’m in Orlando for work, and he helped me out a ton.

I cracked my front bumper on Poughkeepsie at SAS 2021. The crack has visibly grown due to fatigue, so Matt saw the bumper and said “let’s weld that up!”

I ground the crack out; and he fixed it up. I love how the truck is so beat up that a weld and a little black spray paint is a big deal to me. I just added resale value.

I hung around at his shop and worked on his friends 80 series to prep for cruise Moab. It was good relaxing day.

He also modified the t case linkage for gray gardens, my wife’s FJ62. Grey Gardens FJ62LG-PNEA: An idiots guide to resurrecting a high mileage FJ62 - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/grey-gardens-fj62lg-pnea-an-idiots-guide-to-resurrecting-a-high-mileage-fj62.1262429/

More on that later.

Also, I’m not peeling off my ancient jackson hole sticker til nature takes its course. Don’t ask.

I’ve also learned a little bit about mud terrain tires on this trip.

I put these tires on at 323,000 miles in august 2020. They’re 255/85r16 BFG KM3 on 16x6 70 series wheels. I’ve crossed about 25,000 miles with these and they’re wearing really nicely. Maybe 60% tread left. I’ve religiously rotated and balanced them every 3-5000 miles. I even did a hunter road force dynamic balance last time.

They were awesome for a long time. Very quiet for a MT, drove straight and were just awesome off road. I have wheeled them at 15 psi for at least 40 days total. No chunking or weird cracking like my K02’s.

On this trip I’ve noticed they just don’t track perfectly straight, and the rumble has gotten more pronounced. It’s funny, I see it most with the drivers side seat vibrating.

It’s like they just flipped a switch and started being a little bit rough.

I’m going to take these tires and stash them for the 40 project and look at either a normal all terrain tire in 235/85r16 for a 32” or go full stupid and spend $400 a piece for the Toyo m-55 in 255/85r16.
They’re true to size and come out to 33.3” that’s a big plus for me.

My friend @Lo2aY runs them on his monster and has basically sold me on them. They’re essentially an industrial tire that lasts forever.

The Rear axle on my 60 (was) carrying 2 metric tons. The M55 took so much abuse from weight. I had two spares and never used them.

Of course the side wall is compromised compared to mud tires. I don't use it for crawling. Mostly highway, gravel and sand.

They are true to size and balance extremely well for their size. I can't recommend them enough.

The only issue i'd say they have is they are a little heavy. But we are used to heavy tires from Toyo.

Enjoy them habibi. They will last as long as the cruiser.

P.S Rafiki has gone on an extreme diet. The whole interior setup has been changed. I'll post pictures when it's getting close to completion. It now has a sink and stove inside lol.
