Ok think Im going to spray on the body 60% rustoleum 40% mineral spirits just because this is my daily driver and time is becoming an issue. I guess Ill go with the 7771 sand to maybe I can mix it with another color to make it a lil more kaki. Or can you get a rustoleum color match I wonder.

You can't get the Rustoleum matched anywhere. I called their Customer service line, and they said they stopped making the pigments to custom color it.

If you mix it with some grey it might give you the kaki color your looking for, just be sure to measure everything Precisely to make sure each batch is the same.

GIves me an Idea, I may buy a Quart of grey and see if mixing some of that in looks better than the straight sand color as well.

I did that paint method. Was about 10 coats. With out the doors on. Serious labour man!

But really nice product after. Worth it if you time and don't want to clean the shop up.

Turn the radio on have some beers and roll the paint. Don't need a respirator or anything.

The trick is to not over thin as it takes too many coats. And if you go to think the wet sanding takes much longer. It literally takes 6 or more coats to get the feel for the viscosity you need.

scroll down on this page you can see some of my coats.

I just finished up spraying my 60 with rustoleum. I had never painted with a spray gun before and I have to say it went pretty well. painted the entire truck with 3 coats in about an 1 1/2 hours. I don't plan on doing any wet sanding. I have some light orange peel in the finish but I kinda like it because it helps hide some of the small imperfecrions in the body:)

post up a pic

it is raining outside right now but as soon as it stops I will backed the 60 out of the garage and snap a photo.

ok here is a pic of the new rustoleum paint job!

Well cant find the Sand color around here and Home depot and Lowes cant figure out how to order it so Im going to Grainger and getting a gallon of this tomm in Dune tan its supposed to be tougher and ressist maor than the Proffesional but its also $47 a gallon. Trucks In the body shop getting the dents out should be done Fri or Sat then the painting begins.:bounce2:

Hey law man,

here's what i did. I went to home Depot and placed an Order at the service desk. They had to call Rustoleum (their customer service # is on their website) and order a case of the sand. Minimum order is a case, and a case is two gallons. Probably more than i need, but so is life.

Right now, Im stuck re-modeling my Bathroom every free Minute. Soon as that's done, Im going to start my final body work then paint.

My help spilled half of my 1 quart white and I still had enough to coat the roof with at least 6 coats maybe 7 so 1 gallon should be plenty for the rest. I tried that at my home depot and Lowes they couldnt figure it out. LOL I finaly told them look Im the one roller painting my truck and I think yall are the morons. But I think its going to work for the best because Im getting the industrial strength rustoleum one grade up from the professional In 1 gallon dune tan. After reading up the industrial dries in same time frame just made for painting heavy equipment and such. I tried to post the link last night but I just noticed its not up there. Truck will be back at the latest Sat. so should have 1st coats on by Sun.

These were done in Rustoleum orange roll on method.

Touch Up Paint For FJ60

Anyone know of a good place for touch-up paints for FJ60's?

I thought of my local Parts Chain store, but I'm not sure if they'd have touch-up paint for an 87?
