That's what i wanted to know! Thanks!

See from what I understand is that the CHRA of the CT20 and the 26 are identical.....
But yet again I could be wrong.

CT20 and CT26, yes with the exception of the compressor housing oring being different. The CT26 SMALL aka CT20b seems different all around, including a smaller shaft diameter, aka different bearings. Not completely sure of its application, but is seems to been for a later model landcruiser 98+. This is according to the Melett parts catalog anyway, which is where I am getting my information. The rebuild kit he posted was for a CT26 SMALL.

So a regular ct20/ct26 rebuild kit is what i need. And a 360 degree thrust bearing to top it off. I wish i could find a complete kit with the 360 degree bearing included...

CT20B is the 1HD-FTE.

Hi guys read the whole thread, and am still a litle confused but you have seriously given some ideas. But it here is how my sittuation is. I,am rebuilding a hj61 and one of the things i need before i can take the engine of the list for now is a rebuilt turbo for my 12ht. I will later when the car is rebuilt go in to some turbo adventure :) but for now i want to just rebuild it and get the engine of the list. I have been thinkin though that mabey i could upgrade the stock turbo a litle since i.am at it and change the chra for mabey a supra one or something. Exscuse my english and my blabbering...but here is the question to you guys. What is the best mod i can do to my stock ct26 using the stock housing? And where should i buy my parts, is there something i should upgrade from original while at it: bearings, feed lines .....anyway sorry for dumping this noob question on you like that. And yes the market for seccond hand turbos is awfull here in iceland so if you could point out some online shops it would be great.

@Puffin sorry I am not on the forum much anymore.
It boils down to what are you're performance goals and what you are using the vehicle for.
Depending on you're turbine housing size the smaller A/R will allow for a quicker spool up.
A larger compressor wheel like a Supra or a Big 16G wheel like I have for sale are more efficient to the stock size.
There are full rebuild kits available on ebay with 360 thrust bearings.

Okay so nobody knows?

The simplest upgrade is to find a 7mgte supra turbo and swap your rear housing onto it. Or swap the supra compressor wheel and housing in to your turbo. Same result. Chra us the same, rear turbine wheel is the same.
You may need to rotate the front housing so the outlet matches the original orientation. Also may need to fabricate a bracket for the waste gate, or buy an adjustable one (on ebay from kinugawa )

Is there a noticable increase in power to be gained from going down this route?

@HoJo 61 out of curiosity what turbine housing are you running? We also need to know other technical data like how much boost and even more accurate what are the AFRs?

It is a modest hi-flow upgrade using stock parts. Not sure on numbers. But at the same rpm, it will deliver greater flow, lower boost snd a cooler air charge. Wind up fuel and you can get more boost, more air and more grunt while still keeping intake air temps and EGTs at safe levels.

Hi, unfortunately i still have the stock 12ht Ct26 in my rig. Those numbers i posted earlier are from a fellow HJ61 cruiser guy (here in FI) who is running Ct26 from supra. Supra turbine housing, bit more fuel, 1bar boost. As far as i remember correctly.

Do you have thousands and thousands of dollars to spend on R & D?

Most of the folks on here don't.

Please feel free to "bring-back-to-life" this thread and do some R & D and contribute to the community.

I'm absolutely shocked that there isn't a standard, known, bolt-in upgrade to the stock CT26, with the exception of the Gturbo. It's also a bummer that this thread sort of fizzled out :(

7mgte ct26 is your bolt on, budget conscious upgrade option, but it just doesn't do what a G-turbo can do.

What sort of number gains could be expected from the 7mgte over the stock ct26?

7mgte ct26 + intercooler = +30hp +150Nm

I've not done a pile of reading into it, but HoJo 61 posted some figures earlier on this page. I can't say they are or are not accurate though, or how they would look without an intercooler.
