Thanks for the post... Years ago I think I might have been one of the first ones to post online how to replace an alternator on one of these without removing the radiator as called for by toyota I think the dealer quoted $1400 at the time I did it for less than $150... I still get email notes of thanks and always refer them to MUD...
As these trucks get older the most value this information has to many...Information is a wonderful thing... I always turn to this forum or the internet when anything breaks in my world... from industrial chillers/elevators/heavy equipment/HVAC/appliances without the ability to maintain everything in my world I honestly would not have been able to make it the last 7-8 years...

So thank you and everyone else for taking the time for providing the information that could help anyone of us.

$1182 at Lexus of Albuquerque. The pump alone was about $450 (can't remember exact price). Could have gotten it locally at CBT for $276. I think labor was $580. The part number for the pump is 23220-50160. I know there is a pump filter that was replaced as well. May have been part of the assembly though. I didn't have time for other options so although it's tough to swallow it's done and got it back home.

Thats just hateful!! $580 for labor!!

▲That is a repair you just want to pay and forget about:mad:

CBT has all us locals spoiled

It's so ridiculous.

Both of these statements are 1000% true. I kept thinking if only I was in Phoenix. Even if I couldn't have done myself at least it would have been at CBT.

I have found that 99% of imports has this access panel for the fuel pump. My Land Rover, wifes Volvo, her Sedona, my Montero, the Cruiser...yet another reason to never buy a "domestic" car ever again.

Funny you mention this - I owned a Chevy Avalanche at one point and there was a how-to on removing the seat and cutting an access panel to the fuel tank so you didn't have to drop the tank.....I wasn't about to pay someone to drop the tank and luckily someone had already done this.

I won't buy a car without a fuel pump access door.

I did the fuel pump on my uncle's 2000 UZJ and had the whole job done in 40 minutes. The hardest part was getting the bigger of the middle row seats back in.

Does your 40 have an access panel, mine didnt.

There's gotta be a rust hole somewhere you can reach through, right? ;)

HA! Arizona baby ZERO rxxt (cant even say it) here :flipoff2:

Now back to the regular schedule:)

Sorry no pic available. I wasn't there when it came in and work was done. The incorrect pumps that came in from Napa were the cylindrical pump itself. I think it was the entire assembly from Lexus based on the price. I will text them and ask.

A couple of years ago my wife was driving home from work in a torrential downpour, her wipers stopped working.
So I went to the garage, fuse good, motor was running, I could move the arms but the motor would not.
Googled it...there was a nut that fell off the wiper motor that connected it to the wiper transmission.
A lock washer I had in the bits and pieces bin, Gorilla Glue just to be sure, and I saved us $600.
It is a common problem with her van and all of the forums and search results were "dealer replaced wiper assembly"

My 59 Studebaker has this port in the trunk....for the sending unit. The pump is on the left front of the engine.

@92LXAZ Does it come as an assembly? Just pull it out and shove the new one in? Picture available?

Wanted to follow up with your request. Finally got a response. They were kind enough to send a pic. This is what came with the fuel pump ordered under part no. 23220-50160. Pump and pre-filter, expensive little sucker that's for sure.
