Tesla style head unit - has anyone seen this?

It is very popular with the GX guys. Overall positive reviews on their sides. But I like my hard AC knobs to switch over. I can change the temp/output in an instant and don't have to fiddle with a touchscreen.

*Lol just notice it is for 2002+. My rig is not even capable even if I wanted it

if it has GPS/Blue tooth capability then I think it's good for me but... but.. it's 02+LC and am on '00 LX

While it looks great and probably works pretty darn well, it will suffer from the same exact issue as the factory system: Obsolescence. That UI will be considered clunky and cluttered in a few years and you'll be back to square one.

Would be nice if the interface is upgradeable...but this is the issue with all technology. It's outdated so quick!!!

?? are you guys saying that this display has all the digital to analog converters needed to replace all our hardwired buttons that it looks like would have to be removed?

Who's gonna be a Guinea Pig and prove that it works! Lol
If there were even a shred of technical info about this and how it gets installed and connected I would likely jump in!

But as it stands I have ZERO idea about what it might take to get done, not a place I want to be.

Heads up all. There has already been 1 attempt at bring the 03+ into the future and it sounds like is was a pretty crappy way to go. You can check it out here.
I'm sceptical, but if it is proven to work id much rather have an Android system than the stock nav unit.

A local car audio shop is ready to install this in my LX (don't ask me how) for about 500$. But he doesn't have stock locally and asked me to deposit 150$ and he will order the unit from China. It reaches Dubai in about 10 days.
He claims all things OEM will continue to work as normal including the back up camera, steering wheel control etc but I will have to buy new AC vents from a LC. Do the AC vents and the antenna/CDL switch from LC fit and work in a LX?

they will fit fine. The right side seatbelt indicator comes with a new right side vent. The indicators on the left side swap over and do not come with a new vent. ( cdl, antenna, hzrd )
Sharjah is going to be cheapest for new. Lucky for you.

just my opinion, but I think installing one of these is a disaster waiting to happen. But I hope it's great and runs perfect. I'd love to have one in my hands.

We should crowd fund one of these for @jerryb , our in house head unit expert, to get some testing on it and see if its a reliable replacement. ;)

I’m in for a crowdfund share for whoever wants to test this out first. I agree with all the comments on obsolescence. If the UI is upgradeable then great. But if it’s static then it’s going to age very quickly.
