Tesla style head unit - has anyone seen this?

This is what is involved for the install of the 10" unit. There were some minor differences due to mine being a different year, but enough info in the video to figure it out for the transplant.

Any installs on 2005 Im ready to pull the trigger

I will be installing this in my 2005 LX... waiting for the headunit to arrive at a local audio installer.

It's the single worst design feature in the Tesla, imo. Like it's offensively hideous and I can't believe Elon ever let it get into production. Reason enough not to own one for me.

Having said that, it actually isn't as terrible in the 100 because we actually have a dash space to accommodate it. I would rather buttons, though. All you need is one crack from something being jostled over an obstacle and you'll want them back too.

Yes that one dashboard where you dont have any buttons or anything is just trying to do to much with technology. Just cause you can do it does'nt mean you should. I am sure the older Car OEM's would have brought this not really unique design to BMW, MB etc. and they likely rejected it b/c having buttons actually works. BTW some stuff works better with buttons and some on a screen.

I am confused...does this work on LX's? Specifically 06's? All factory controls remain (Heat and Air mainly)? Backup camera remain? Can I stream audio from my phone through the unit? I do or don't have to transfer stuff from the old system to this one?

Too many people talking about how it looks or have opinions on if the UI is good or whatever. Let's stay on topic and get a good final solution to whether this works and what years and models it will work with!

This whole thing been sketchy since I 1st seen it. Too much of a hassle to get and install. Is there anyone state side have this installed and working? Please no Dubai,China or any other country pics.

Received a surprise text from the installer that the unit has arrived. I rushed to him and had the unit installed. It took more than 4 hours to complete the install. Wires are all plug and play except for the factory back up camera (the guy spliced into the rear camera wires and made the OEM camera work). They also removed the black box behind the MFD and installed it with the new unit. All functions are working fine, factory AMP, FM antenna function, Steering wheel controls, front and rear AC, etc.
I have lost the rear FM radio (something i never used).
I will post more feedback later... at work now.

Okay, @LX470MK ... you're either just about to post the "Now, turned on" pics, or you've got a great sense of humor. Posting a dead/off screen after saying "All functions are working fine, factory AMP, FM antenna function, Steering wheel controls, front and rear AC, etc."... kinda funny. The fit does look great - definitely above the acceptable line.

I'm loving the progress on this unit. We just got my wife a 2019 Acura RDX and, compared to my 2006 100, it feels like I'm in George Jetson's ride. Gotta drag this analog sled into the digital era!

Yessss! Yours is a 2005 right?
