Yesterday i bought a pressurized sandblaster and started making a mess. I did the valence under the grill, the vent in front of the w/s, some of the front clip and most of the right fender.

Today I went in for just a couple of hours. I attacked one of the fender lowers.

I got a before shot, but the pics of the repair didn't come out. I'll get some more of the finished repair and of the other side later. I still need to make the brace on the inside of the repaired outer skin.

Todd that is awesome man..

The funniest thing, it has been years now, I just put together Todd Ballard = Gumby... Been trying to figure out who this guy is who knows his s*** and is funny as hell   :D

Glad you got her Gumby......my missus freaked when she saw the pix..........statrted screaming "not another rusted......%&^*()#@?":>" I just ran to the shop<LOL>

#1 before blasting on the rs fender
#2 before blasting on the inside
#3 inside of the repair on the ls fender. I'm going to do something different with the brace where it comes down on the curve. The stock way leaves a pocket for gunk to fill up and rot out the fender. I think I may just double up the curve and leave the end of the channel open for drainage.

#1 Outside of patch. It's not perfect yet, but I needed a break from sandblasting, so I thought I'd get some pics and get 'em up.

#2 blasted rs fender. I think tomorrow I will show the kids how to make a patch so I left this one undone. I'll try to get a kid to take pics for a powerpoint for class and I'll post up a few.

I'm thinking I might fill in the t/s holes too. I was looking at these and they look pretty slick. http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/techarticles/electrical/131_0702_autonik_led_headlights_turn_signals/
Maybe a strip of LEDs in the little triangle pieces under the headlights.

#3 I hung the fenders and the inner clip while I was cleaning all of the blasting mess. Looks better already.

Gumby let me know if you need a reference pig for your build up. The "other" pig that I picked up last winter is, for the most part, unmolested. It still has the complete Cali emissions. The body needs some lovin but mechanically it's intact.

We can have a pig convention in N'ville. I'm useless in the body work area but willing to lend a hand on the mechanical side if you need one.

Great! Thanks.

That might be really helpful when i get to putting it back together. i know where everything goes now, but in a few months ...:whoops:

Not much got accomplished today. I got the other fender patch in and made the other brace. It came out nicer than the first.

The little time I had was spent making a cable 4wd shifter out of the factory e-brake mechanism on the 78 rock pig. It works pretty slick.

Yesterday I did a PHH, oil pump cover, front crank seal, wheel studs, belts and starter rebuild on a LX450 so no work on the pig.

Today I welded the rotisserie together. I also took off the tail gate and separated the body from the frame.

I should have the body on the rotisserie by mid week.

I'm looking forward to spinning it upside down a couple of times to shake all the crap out.:D

Then I hope to take the roof cap off and blast the whole thing clean.

Damn Gumby, you are flying on that piggie...are you doing any work, besides pigwork lately ? Looks like you're doing your blasting indoors, thats some messy shiite and damn near impossible to get all the silica gone. Way back when, I am certain some long lost silica from an indoor blasting project was the cause of some fish-eyes in the paint work. Since then, I blast outside in what has become the beach area. Keep that in mind if your going to paint in the same space....and at the rate your moving on that, I expect that'll be next week  Also, nice work on the fender patches  Keep the progress reports and pics coming. Now spin that pig upside down....

Looking good Gumby! sheeit, you already have a V-8 conversion so all you have to do is drop a crate, I didn't know that when you asked about my motor (or didn't get it anyway) I thought you just wanted to run an H55 for the 5spd (extra gear) not that you had to replace the tranny anyway. You'll be done with that pig in no time.

I did do the blasting indoors.

What a freakin' mess.

I will be doing the rest outdoors some dry weekend.

It seems to be going slow to me. I hope for it to speed up a bit once it's on the rotisserie and I can blast the body.

Stretching the doors is going to take a bit of time as well.

I need to find me a 80 or 100 chassis next.

I think that same family of mice vacationed in my quarters...

I can roll it around the shop all by myself. It'll make it way easier than even having it on the frame with no drivetrain. I can roll it over upside down pretty easily with one person too. I think it'll make it tons easier to do the body work, especially the rockers and drilling the roof panel off.

Just removing the windshield gasket was easier doing one side and then spinning it over to do the other side.
