Looking great!

You should be able to find your way into all sorts of trouble with that beast.

Not a lot of progress this weekend.

Saturday I drove out to see Rob and pick up a pair of Aisin hubs. Today I finished the cage. I put a quart of primer on it, but ran out before it was done. I was pretty done with the cage myself so I wasn't about to go back out and get more primer and come back. I just grabbed some on the way home. I'll get it in color this week.

My gut tells me you need a cross brace between the upper and lower fender bars - the upper one looks like it would bend in easily and become a damage multiplier. An alternative is something across the front attaching the two upper bars to each other, but I don't know where that would go and not be in the way.

Actually after thinking about it some more I would do both or just the across the front one. If you put cross braces only between the upper and lower then the upper one will get pushed on every time the lower one contacts a tree, which could be pretty often...

We were thinking the same thing. I was thinking of maybe going through the fender to the shock hoop to give some lateral support to the bottom. Maybe I can go through the apron and across the engine bay to support the upper and provide some engine roll over protection too.

We went around and around about a grill surround. 4rnr was pretty adamantly against it.

Yup those will definatly be supported. Todd just has premature picture release disorder :D

I didnt want a grill bar cause I dont think its necessary and the pig nose is sexy. Through the engine bay would be nice! and tie the lower to the shock hoop. That would be plenty strong and will keep the nose nice and clean to the body lines.

The front grill is way too nice to hide with the tube. I like the idea of going through the fender to a shock tower. Clean and out of site.
Can't wait to see it in person. Looking great. You guys have mastered the tube bending. I can't make the same bends twice in a row...Two out of three seemed to be my norm. Great looking exo.

Thanks. We should get the nicest pig on the planet (TM) down here.

My trailer is 77" inches between the rails. My 80 axle rear just clears them.

I do have those 64 rims with car tires mounted on them if it'd be worth swapping on some skinnys.

You really need to ditch those rails on the trailer, not only can I not fit on it, but you wont be able to if you go to a wider tire, and you haul cars on it....arent you sick of having to dukes of hazard it everytime you need to get in and out of the cars.

And did I mention that I dont fit on it.....:flipoff2:

You looking for a ride down to Attica next weekend?

No my junk has never seen a trailer. But im a realist, im sure someday Ill destroy something.

I've seen your junk on my trailer.

It didn't have an engine in it at the time, but...

The cage ought to be in paint this afternoon. We got the white on yesterday. Blue today. I keep finding things I'd like to tweak, but I need to keep moving. I'd like to put more gussets on the roof, for instance.

Painted the inside of the tailgate yesterday too. Both the inside of the tailgate and the part that faces the inside of the truck.

I need to do some trailer mods now as well. My 40 fits but the 55 will never fit. Might simply need to get a replacement and scrap the old one.

What's the talk about Attica? Woody might be there Friday and might be dropping my 40 off. That means I have a cruiser to wheel again...

You interested in selling a trailer Eric?

s*** that looks good, how do you like it in person?

Im off tomorrow let me know when you get it on I have to come and see it in person.

Ill be down there, woody is going to puss out so Ill likely be hooking up with a group of taco's. Theres a thread in the IN TCLA board, and on TTORA

I have family crap this weekend. I was thinking that you were leaning towards a trip in the near future, but not this near. I told Woody Todd could use my 40 if he heads south with it. But I am not sure what his plans are if the weather is bad.
I hope to get this trailer thing solved and get something that my 55 will fit on as well. I am off to e-bag to see if I can find one for cheap cause mine is worth very little. It's one of the best I have ever towed with but old, tired, and rusty.

And by the way, since you have tomorrow off, why not hitch hike up here and drive the 55 to Todd's shop. Might be a bit scary on the road but it has seatbelts. Not to mention a random plate I had from Colorado.......
