Wasn't that long ago I asked for half doors :) I placed my order as soon as I saw it on the website and I am looking forward to seeing them in person :)
Thank you!

There is a difference. The FST hinges when the door limiter is removed to allow the door to swing further open the door just lifts off. Hard top hinges need either the bolts for the hinge removed or pin driven out. When the pin in the upper is inserted from the top it scratches the windshield frame when removing.

Tim,
Do you have an update on the doors and when they will be shipped? :)

Hi! The half doors are to be shipped out of factory before end of the month (waiting for the readiness of other stuff) and will be here the middle of September. One thing I need to mention is that after study we did not install the impact beam in the door since we believe it is stronger already than the full-size door due to its shortened and closed structure.

I wanted to share an update about the 75-78 tub project. In the attached photos, you can see how the 75-78 tub has been fitted together with its corresponding parts, and the result is looking really promising! There are some minor differences on the floor pattern in the rear section of the tub, which was more of the 79-84 design. I hope that minor differences are not going to be the issue.

We're gearing up to ship out two of these tubs very soon, and they are scheduled to arrive at our warehouse in Temecula, California, around the middle of next month.

Once the arrival time is finalized, I'll be extending an invitation to anyone who's interested in coming to check out the tubs in person. It will be a great opportunity to see the quality and features firsthand. If you'd like to reserve a spot on the order list for these tubs, you can go ahead and pre-order through tpautoparts.com. Your support is greatly appreciated! Thank you! Tim

OK, I'll bite. What are the differences, because I can't see them.

The half doors look great but.... I hate that there is a seam on the top of the door. Is there any way to make these with a smooth top side as people tend to rest their arms on them?

Haven't thought about that....

Any plans for mid-late 70’s 45 cabs?

Any plans for individual 72-78 repair panels or 1/2 tub assemblies for those that don’t need a full tub?

I would like to hear from all of you what parts or section of parts you may need…

No plan yet to make different version of FJ45 from what we already have.

You would sell a TON more individual repair panels then complete body tubs. I bet you would sell twice as many 1/2 tubs as complete tubs. Way more people willing to do a small patch job here and there (or even 1/2 tub swap) on the weekend then going to do a full body swap restoration.

As for 45’s there WAY more pre-79 45’s here then the late model stuff.

There are a lot of 79-up 45’s (and 40/43) coming in from South America but I don’t think many of them are going to be recipients of your products.. they’re all too tweaked up for straight panels to fit

Most are pre 68 if that makes much difference in a 45 cab. Windshield changed in 68. Doors catch area in 75. Compared to FJ40s there are far fewer 45s. Anything between 68 and 76 were not a North America imports. US stopped with the 67 model. Canada started with the 77 model.

My 76 FJ40 is so far gone that patching in panels would be a herculean effort. And I know I'd mess something up along the way.

An accurately reproduced steel tub complete with fenders, aprons, hood, top, WS frame, doors, and sides, that is complete. primed and ready for paint, where I don't have to do *checks notes* 1000 hours of work to make look good?

Let me know where I can go pick it up, I'll bring a cashiers cheque.

I’m not saying there’s not a market for complete bodies, but I think that’s only a small percentage and by not selling individual panels they would miss the mark big-time.
You know perfectly well there a lot of 40’s that are regular drivers that owners don’t want to take off the road for extended period but would weld a panel in on a long weekend.
