A little up date. The only thing I have gotten done on my 40 is....charging the battery. yeehaw I think there is some kind of evil force making sure I can't work on the 40.

I have been working on the trailer and pickup. If you need some fun on a Sunday afternoon take a set of brake shoes from a car trailer to Autozone and Advance and watch the dazed and confuzed look on the kid behind the counters face. On Monday NAPA said they could get the complete brake setup only. At $110 per side I passed, found the shoes on the world wide web for $22/set.

It also seems that I will be the proud owner of a set of cut and turned axles. So yes I am joining the herd and going to spring over, if I can remember where I put those stock springs at. This means there will be a set of Rough Country 4" springs for sale soon.

Still need to come to some plan on the cross over steering, 4x4 Labs is sweet but have to check the funds.

Hopefully I'll have some actual progress soon but I will most likely be making a mad dash to finish at least some of this the first week of June.

I have a 4x4 labs set up on the LV that came off the pig. It doesn't work with the SUA that's going on either 45. What else you got that I can't do without?

Hopefully all 4 hub caps for that 40, and the bezel.... :bounce:

the 40 does have one hubcapon it, I'll dig through the garage to see if there is more, it seems like I did have more I'll see. Sorry no bezel, it now sits on the front of another guys truck.

Talk to me Gumby, what do ya need man.

Alright, so if my engine and tranny is missing after Sat's wheeling adventure, I now have two prime suspects. Thanks for raising your hands gents

Oh, I'm not saying I needed any admission, it's just nice to have it in writing :D

Last year I had the fun of dumping six of the 5.7's in to the dumpster. Another guy was backing out of the trailer with a stack of two mods somehow he hit them on some guard rail around the dock controls and dropped them about three feet to the floor. Landed upright, with top mod unseated and lightly resting on one of the bottom engines. Scraped them all. The one engine needed a new intake, was the only visable problem and all engines were still seated in there mods. But they will not take a chance of a problem so out they go.

Bad news is it would be easier to get some free samples out of Ft. Knox than to get scrapped parts out of here.

Alright then, I'll take some samples from Ft. Knox. Report back with my gold:D

Seriously, what do they do to combat dumpster divers? Other than a fence. and CCTV. Are the parts rendered useless prior to tossing?

The scrap is taken away by certified haulers and taken to spicific recyclers whith lots of paper work along the way. I went to an auction at a local college a few years ago that was doing away with their auto repair classes. Toyota had donated engines, trans, and axles to the school, these parts were spray painted with red paint and set off in the corner, and a security guard from work was standing beside them all day. No gun on his hip but he was really taking his job serious. Needless to say no Toyota parts left the place that day.

No I can't. I have to account for it every step of the way. I have to destroy every usable piece before scrapping it.

The whole process is more of a pain in the dick than beating off with soap in the shower.
