I think I'd rather have no cruise control than no control over my transmission.
I've been checkin' Tony. Nobody has a clue as to why it might be doing that.
AllData says that the transes on those did have ground issues that can cause a lot of problems. It might also be a problem that would get worse over time. They say it's a good idea to run a redundant ground.

Thought that it was resolved except for the 45-50 mph range or did I read the text message wrong? It could pontentially be a gearing issue and cleared up with taller gearing. Darrel, excuse me, Da'real or Jeremy might be able to comment if the 3rd gens are shift happy at the 45-50 mark since I know they run 33s and 4.10 gearing.
Also keep in mind that it was a junkyard ECU. If its the TC locking and unlocking I would bet on gearing. If its downshifting into third gear and Todd suggestion doesnt work, I wouldnt over look the possibility of the ECU being bad.
I was diagnosing Tony's problem.
How would a ground cause the front end to shake?
Lets keep this thread on track

TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 132
DATE: Sep. 1992
TRANSMISSIONS: All Electronically Shifted Units
SUBJECT: Intermittent Electrical Problems
APPLICATION: All Electronically Shifted Units
Intermittent Electrical Problems
Wrong gear starts, no upshift, no downshift, falling out of 4th gear, etc may be caused by poor grounds. This applies to any electronically shifted unit, import or domestic.
To test for a poor ground, connect the black lead of your digital voltmeter directly to the negative battery post and probe the suspect ground wire with the positive lead. A good ground will read 0.1 volts or less. More than 0.1 volts is a poor ground. Keep in mind the circuit must be operating to accurately check the ground.
Using a service manual for the vehicle you are working on, locate the transmission computer ground circuit. In the example shown, B and D are the grounds. Now with the vehicle running in gear, backprobe B and D with the positive lead. Make sure the negative lead is hooked directly to the NEGATIVE BATTERY POST. The voltmeter must read 0.1 or less.
I was diagnosing Tony's problem.
Ford Taurus fan is hard to beat for the price.
Is it just me or does this happen to anyone else? Every time I plan on working on the rig all hell breaks loose somewhere else and my plans are shot. But hey maybe tomorrow.
