It would probably be 12" of 1" round bar, that way it could hook rocks and trees and add the third dimension of traction I have been looking for. Maybe the end of it could have some sort of tip specially designed for lateral stability, what could such a tip look like.

I think the welding last year was the most entertaining part of tech day!
