The last time you went for a brake tag / inspection sticker, did they open the hood or test the exhaust? If not, you're good to gut. I know the last time I went, the guy was so enamored with my rig, he didn't check a single thing.

I am speaking from memory here, but I believe your inspection stickr has a box for emissions stickers and mentions applicable parishes.
Ok last time I was up in hot springs my truck kept cutting out and having to sit 4-5 min till then would crank and run normally 10-15 min then repeat the process. Popular opinion was bad gas because of how little it gets driven.
Just cranked it up for the first time since then on the same gas, played around on the back 40 for about an hour, high speed, low speed, let it sit and idle for an hour or so after and never cut out once on now even older s***tier gas. I don't think it was a float issue in the carb because it was doing it on level ground, uphill, and down hill. It is possibly a bit cooler now than then but I don't remember it being that warm in hotsprings last time. I did overheat the engine pretty severally that weekend and am not sure if that might be playing a part but then why is it running decent now?

Hey guys, I'm about to order some Amsteel Blue winch line and I'm torn between sizes, 5/16" (13,700lbs) and 3/8" (17,600lbs). My winch is an 8k Warn. What are your experiences?
Also I'm having a brain fart... If I'm using a snatch block and pulling an 8k load, am I actually exerting 16k of force on the line or 4k? I think it's 4 k since I would be pulling against myself, but I want to be sure.

personaly I would go with the 3/8. and with a snatch block you are exerting 4000 pounds on two legs with your atatchment point putting 8000 pounds of force.
My reason for thinking the 3/8 is I think I read somewhere that whinch line is rated at the max pull it can handle, no safety factor worked in. I would like a little breathing room for any shockloading that might occur.
While I am thinking about it: On their website or where ever you are ordering the whinch line, do they sell chafing gear for it? I would like to add some onto mine so it would not get rubbed on by rocks and things.

you only get help on the line load by using multipliable sheaves like a block&tackle
IMHO put the largest winch line on or by a factor of 1.5 - 2x of vehicle weight
that being said we probably never come close to max line pull unless you will b lifting the entire vehicle off the ground but they do bust drive line so no help plus get hung up on rocks stumps etc etc etc & I would rather a winch component fail than a line or block

3/8" it is then... Thanks for the responses! The Viking Safety Thimble is top notch, but they don't have much any specs on their line. I'll have to call them. I may send some AmSteel Blue to them, to splice in a thimble.

Yes you understood me correctly. So if the block has 16k and the rope has 8K since it's doubled over, then you should be pulling your truck with 16k of force, right?
Weight x speed = total force (or something like that)
So in theory, each extra point makes the object being pulled move half as fast and in turn causes have the strain.
So, if you run to a tree, you may be putting 8k of strain on the winch. If you go to the tree and back, you are moving half as fast and putting half the load on the wince. Your attachment points, bumper and tree are still feeling the full load. I wouldn't say that you are pulling exactly half the load because you will also have more resistance due to friction at blocks, etc.
Then again, everything I know about this subject I saw on dirty jobs, a show on the boob tube.
