I found out I need a pawl for an AISIN Lockout for my 78 fj40. When we got that snow 2 weekends ago I couldn't turn the passenger lockout by hand and when I used pliers to force it, stays locked when turned back to free. After working on it I think a mangled pawl is the culprit and I don't think I can buy just that.

Does any have a spare Pawl around, an extra AISIN lockout or even a set that they would be willing to sell?

i can probably fix your hub face. they can be super tricky. i also might have a spare ready to go but would want your parts in trade. after the 1st of the year is best for me. sorry don't see mud much so slow to respond.

Thank you @tornadoalleycruiser but I think I fixed it! When I disassembled the outer hub dial that pawl was wavy under each of the ears that hold on to the groove of the dial. I think that waviness made it hard to turn dial by hand. The ears on the pawl were also bent outward and wouldn't hold on to the dial when turned back to free, I wish I had taken a picture of how it was. Rather than bend on it risking making it worse I drew and printed a die to fit and pressed the hell out of it to flatten the waves. Then bent the ears inward a little so the would stay hugging the dial. This video is way better than the manual. I tested it today and I can turn by hand easily and it now disengages the axle in Free.

Does anybody have front seats from a 95-97 80 series? I want to rebuild mine and need to scavenge some foam and switchgear. I know some of you guys like to yank them out and upgrade to Porsche/Audi/Ferrari type stuff.
