What’s your plan on how to latch it? I’d highly recommend anything other than toggle clamps. I broke 2 U bolts in Moab and am likely gonna go with a spring pin style latch.

Well, the spindle kit that I got from EMS OffRoad came with the u-bolt clamps. I was strategizing how to mount them tonight. I’ll use them, since I paid for them, and add some neoprene spacers between the swing outs and the bumper to have a solid locked down connection. What’s your plan on how to latch it? So, I’ve spent quite a bit of time on this. I actually want something that is tough, it not exactly solid. I found some hard rubber isolation pads that I could shake with my router, that would provide support, but “give” just a little bit. I’m afraid a hard product wouldn’t absorb the movement of the frame with the tire on it.Instead of neoprene, delrin or UHMW may last better. Looks good though![]()
Awesome ! this is so close to what i did .... I kept stock bumpers as is and added a frame / carrier to the frame under the bumper to chassis.
The closing mechanism might need changing but so far works well. Also add a metal plate at the top where i can add basket / storage for for flag.
I added a self locking mechanism when the carrier swings open it "locks" in need to pull it out to swing back in.
Apologies for adding the pics, but wanted to share my similar setup

Hello Vulkin,Opted for a simple solution, can be tightened and adjusted.
There are fancier solutions but this is working well.

Here’s how they are on my 60. On the 40, one is horizontal below the end of the swing arm to keep it up/level. I’ve also seen angled poly and plastic to doo the same thing:@Skreddy photos of your bump stops? I need something below my swingarms when they close and what you're doing might be the ticket.
Yah I see your point, i cam adjust tension with you bolt and nuts.So I have my latches all cut, drilled, welded and set, just like my sketch from a few days ago. Well, unfortunately, the latch doesn't really "lock" into place like I thought it would. I've looked around, and while I see some folks do a similar latch orientation, many folks have the arm of the latch turn 90 deg to the handle. For anyone familiar with the whole "maintaining the original chrome bumper" thing, that's really not an option. At least, not with the latch I got. I've ordered some square u-bolts, that i am going to try and put into the two holes in the handle to lock it in place. We'll see how that goes.
Also for the bumper solution, I got some vibration isolation pads for AC condensers and cut them down to the size and thickness that i need. When the latch is tight, both swing-outs are pretty dang firm.

It looks like yours latches in what I’m calling a 90deg orientation. I will need to make a few almost major modifications if I end up having to do that.Yah I see your point, i cam adjust tension with you bolt and nuts.
I wanted to add padding so I compensated by losing the but a bit.
