I think about that all the time and was super paranoid about it going through Kansas on my way to Moab. I need to get to it but I'm feeling super lazy these days, its on the short list though!

I got by for years with it and the day Lance from IPOR mentions it i get pulled on our club OBX trip. Fast forward to GSMTR a week later and my quick solution was a 37 on the roof :(

Well 6am sunday i was lazy and left it on the swingout and got pulled twice on way home to high point. Luckily a fix it ticket.

Just saying, riflemans fault if it happens now.

I hear that!

Aaaaand we're on 40s and beadlocks!!!!

@William Pool had a great deal so yesterday I made the drive down to his neck of the woods to pick them up!

Pro Comp 40" MT2 Tires
Spyderlock Beadlocks

Goal is to keep it at the height it sits right now, nice & low on those 40s. To do this, I'm going to need to do some hefty work.

1. I would like to really start molesting the body and figure out a way to give myself a bigger tub in the rear.
2. Will need to chop bumper in rear
3. Will need to chop sliders on front & rear even further now
4. My exhaust is getting rubbed by the tires as well so figure that out

Question for the dudes running 40s:
- What have you done to beef up that 8" front?
- I've got knuckle ball gussets waiting for install, ordering my truss now, I have chomoly axles, I have ARP hub studs, assuming I should go with the ARP knuckle studs as well. Thing thats good for now?

I'd love for someone with deep pockets and the extreme attn to engineering excellence to mod an 80 like an Arctic Truck for US road use.

Get rid of it. It's about all you can do really. I don't see myself going up to 40s on these axles.
just to jump in there has NOT been one obstacle I couldnt make with a fully loaded fzj on 37s dont see any reason for 40s unless your going trailer queen. JMO

I guess I could technically sell the hellfires, sell my roof rack, sell my RTT, sell my current axle, sell my spare axle... and pitch in a couple grand and be there! What would be the key careabouts with a dana 60? Passenger drop, figure out how to go 6x5.5 so I'm not finding new wheels, can you do 5.29s in a D60?

Going through the passes in Colorado I was passed by Max Huddleston on 40s and poor mans 3 linked. He cruised by me like it was nothing. I don't see an issue putting 40's on the road thus far.

Doing a 3 link RIGHT with "universal" brackets isn't what i would call a "poor mans" setup. o_O If you dont want coilovers there is no reason to buy $2000 worth of brackets alone from 4WUG. Nothing wrong with it(4WUG) at all but dont s*** on a different approach.

Surprised to see such an ignorant statement made when there isnt anything inexpensive about doing a 3 link properly. :meh:

maybe, but do it because you want it, not cause everyone else is. you have a perfect set up ow. its amazing what an 80 on 35s let alone 37s can do MOAB was easy as was ouray and telluride, northest uwharrie cake, absolute cake. again JMO

I'm not calling it poormans in any demeaning way, thats how I've always been taught to call the 3 link conversion utilizing OEM coil & shock mounts. I'm not putting it down at all, I'll be doing my own as soon as funds allow.
