we had our 6-week follow up appointment on thursday. so i took the day off work and hung out with the little man till it was time to head to the hospital. it's about an hour and a half from here. got there and they got started with the ultra sound almost right away. first they took a bunch of pics of the right ( good ) kidney. looked perfect, just like in a textbook or pic on the wall at the kidney specialist. then they took pics of the left ( repaired ) kidney. to me, it did'nt look that great at all. shape is completely different, the structure is different and so are there looked to be a few good size cavities. that had me pretty worried.
the tech then emailed the pics to the surgeon ( same hospital but different building ). he came back ten minutes later and said we needed to take more pics. crap. :frown:
so more pics, email them off again. then we get told to head over to the other buidling to see garrett's surgeon.
wait there for a short while and the doc comes in. i look at him and say "those pics don't look very promising". he replies "they might not to you, but it's really all good news". i'm preplexed so he says "let's look at some pics from before the surgery". then ghe goes on to explain that the kidneys will never look the same and that the repair tunred out well. at the end he looked me straight in the eye and said "this is the result we, as surgeons, hope and pray for".
i almost teared up. never been this relieved in my life. :D
so for now, we got a clean bill of health and a follow-up appointment in 6 months. the surgeon will be following garrett's progress and recovery for the next 5 years. and i finally get to sleep a little less worried.....

thanks again for all the prayers, well wishes, positive thoughts, calls, emails, pms, conversatins, support,...... you guys made a difference! :grinpimp:
