Pulled the trigger. Sway-a-way said that they are about 10% stronger spring rate. Before I install, I need to purchase a diff drop kit.

Would any of you know that the preload should be on these? Is it 5 splines?

I have these. I bought some old man emu torsion bars on amazon and when the box came, they were sway away. After doing some research, I learned that they were a little thicker and stiffer than OME and they cost a lot more. Since I was planning ondoing a Slee blue berry front bumper with a winch, I decided to keep them. I did preload them 5 splines. I don't know how they compare to the OME because I have never driven a vehicle with them, but I don't have any complaints. They ride well with my setup and I like the red too.

Yes, I think it is somewhere between 3-5 splines and it can differ between the drivers and passengers side. Keep us updated with how well they feel once you install them.

Ok. good to know. Also, I have the AHC system as well. Is this going to reduce the pressure too much up front?

Plug in the numbers in sway-a-ways own torsion bar calculator and you'll see that their 31mm bars have a significantly higher effective rate compared to the stock AHC 25.5 bars and the 28mm conventional LC bars. For the AHC dampening to function properly I've found that anything less then 6.5MPa up front was too springy and underdamped.

what is the main difference between these and the ome ones?
Price aside.

@PADDO , would you know what the "bar active length" would be on these?

@caslim No, not off the top of my head - it would be all the bar length that's 31mm plus the lengths at each end that span about half the radius up to the full, splined thickness. Best way to do this is pick an arbitrary number like 42in and use that to compare AHC (25.4mm) LC (28.8mm) and swayaway (31mm) to determine ratios i.e. an LC bar is ~60% greater then AHC bar. Rule is 2x thicker = 16x increase in rate.

Getting ready to install these...struggling finding good instructions for install. I could technically use the OME instructions, correct? Anyone see issues with this?

Yes. T bar install is same for all.

Thanks! One more question...the OME instructions do not state anything about preload or indexing. It does have this statement

"Where there is a master spline on the torsion bars on installation they must be aligned to the anchor arms. Where the torsion bars have the same spline sizes at each end, the torsion bar can be installed with either end to the front."

Do you need to index on new TB's?

There were a few good threads in this section that helped me install my torsion bars with proper index for 2.5" lift. I didnt even know swayaway made stuff for the 100, good to know.

For those with torsion bar questions

Thanks. I have read that thread, but it only discusses lifting and indexing old TB's. Would the same apply for new TB's?

100 OME lift write up

heres another good write up to follow, it doesnt make sense reading it at first but once you have the t-bars out in front of you, it will make sense.

Just ordered some swayaway TBs this week and got it tonight. Couple things I’ve noticed when ordering and seeing what I received.

First is that Swayaway website and tech support states the bars are 32mm instead of 31mm. Second, it’s black powdered coated now vs red. Not sure if it actually increased from 31 to 32mm. Guess if mistype, oh well. If it increased, not sure what that actually means. Maybe increased spring rate? The color has definitely changed to black. The color doesn’t really matter to me but something noting a change.

Also, swayaway did some markings on the end of the bars and splines to make it more easier to identify Left and Right sides and the direction of the indexing. I didn’t see this from previous threads (I could have missed it). Thinking this will help during installation.

Anyway, just wanted to share. You all let me know if you know something more about this.

Here’s the markings (notice the arrows and L and R?) along with color coding (green for left and white for right) on one end. Not sure what “N” (or “Z”, depending on how you look at it) means. The other end is blank with no markings.

Guess it must be a typo, as the "Additional Information" tab shows 31mm. And, the price increased to $213.

Sounds like a deal to me. If I got some, they would be getting painted black anyway, so for me that is a good change.
