Surf n' Turf 2007-08?

I read that I need to bring some firewood, both for a personel fire and to contribute to the bonfire. No problem.

My question is, are there any requirements for pit for a "personel" firepit? i.e. a free standing pit or tub

Actually, the locals will have the community bonfire covered. If you want your own campfire bring some "clean" wood, no nails or pallets. There's no requirement for free standing pits or tubs, most folks just make a little depression in the sand. Also no need to worry about ashes, it's fine to leave them and any leftover firewood (someone will burn it for you.)

There are some unusual techniques when having fires on the beach - don't put them out when you leave and definitely don't bury them. Sounds a bit strange if you're accustomed to camping in the forest but it you think about it you see why we do it this way.

Hint: there are no designated campsites and it is a vehicle recreation area.

I've been asked a couple times so file this in the FYI folder...

I'm currently planning on attending my first SNT, and I (ok, my friend) was wondering what facilities are there - specifically, restrooms, showers, etc. Just trying to get an idea of what to bring along.

Camping on the beach is primitive. In other words we provide the sand, sun, wind and rain. A lot of the first, hopefully a lot of the second, only a little of the third and none of the fourth.

There are "pit" toilets and some portable toilets near (but not too near) the Surf N Turf camp. They are usually "pleasant" to use, no need for other arrangements in that department.

There are some "secret" showers located just off the beach at a small City campground. They take quarters if IRCC. Take Airport Road off Pier Avenue between Old Jaun's Cantina (HWY 1) and the beach ramp kiosk. The small campground and showers are on the right a couple blocks South of Pier Ave. Not many people know about them and they are pretty nice for that sorta thing.

I'm often asked about potable water and I'm not sure what to say other than the City campground I just mentioned and the State Park Campground also on Pier Avenue (but to the North). I suspect there is public potable water there and since the OHV area is also State Parks there should be some kind of reciprocity if you're camping on the beach. If not, I'm sure the rangers or park aide at the Kiosk could direct you.

Oh yeah, it should go without saying, but there is NO TRASH service on the beach, PACK IT IN - PACK IT OUT. Leaving trash bags full of trash on the beach or next to the restrooms isn't cool. There is a LARGE trash dumpster and Recyle dumpster on the beach near pole 2 (follow the seagulls), please use them. You'll even receive free trash bags when you enter the park!

yes the State Parks Campground allows you to pull potable water, at the campground(the one off Hwy 1) is a sewer dump and water source, if you any of the state parks facilities, you can dump and load water there

I think she is coming, I got an email from her firend in the black FJ that they look forward to seeing us again. My friend who caught on fire with her in the sleeping bag however is not coming.

I don't think we need another visit from the porn star. Although, who was the dude looking for "rubbers" in the early dawn of Saturday. He must have had the hang-over of the century. Not to mention the burning sleeping bag. Talk about "HOT".

The dude's name wa Remi like the cognac. I lost my sleeping over that, but I guess after what went down in it, I am glad it caught fire. Should be another great event. Im gonna try to kidnap Drexx from the Philipines to bring him this year.

Now if I would only get off my butt and actually build the fuel carrier to have it to show off at SnT.

Fortunately, I did not miss the deadline or nobody would get shirts!

But don't worry, we will have a few extras, in assorted sizes, available on a first come first serve basis. Please don't ask now, I want to pick up the shirts and make sure all the pre-orders are filled before declaring any extras.

We'll also have some very cool "surprise" shirts, including another batch of the very popular "Beach Party" (Red and White FJ45 LV and Surfboard) that we had last year.

There should be plenty of Stickers and Dash Plaques to go around too.

We even have a few of last year's event shirts, mostly XL and 2XL hoodies.

If you make it to Oceano Airport, you've gone too far and past the showers, they are just over the bridge which goes into the Oceano Lagoon/Pond.

Also, is there any interest for people to park in the Oceano Airport parking lot? I arranged for a couple of people to do it last year, but the concessionare has changed, so I'd have to re-make my arrangements with the County, but I'll only bother if there is interest for peeps in cars that don't want to park/drive on the sand.

what is the nearest and nicest dog friendly hotel to the Oceano Dunes SVRA? the hotle links shows a lot of hotels in Pismo Beach but necessarly near the SVRA area.

Actually, everything is pretty close, ie; within 15 minutes. You could even include Grover Beach and Arroyo Grande in the search.

I don't have a specific recommendation - no dog and I always stay at home when I'm, in the area.

Let me start by saying i have made this event the last 3 years in a row, i drove all the way up from oxnard area,,( yeah like 180 miles haha) But this year i am over in IRAQ doing my Seabee thing and will not be home till spring 2008 (been here 6 months). So my qusetion is, Is there going to be a DVD made or can a beg someone to make me one and i will buy it from them or something. Can i order t-shirts and have them sent to my wife in iowa.
