What are your needs? I have the Toyota kit and it's a fairly easy DIY project. Reliability seems pretty good. Lots of forum members have been running it for a long time. You will have to make sure your cooling system is in tip top shape. No intercooler is required. Here's the power gain:

Well my only need is for it to actually fit the next gen FZ and the one from the website I linked above seems to be the only one that actually seems to be made for it.

Yeah probably that or a custom turbo setup are your options.
Reliability? Mine still runs good with 100,000+ miles on it. The idler pulley disigntagraded on the trail a few months ago, so all I had do was fish the belt out of the pullyes and continue wheeling. Drove it 100+ miles home on the freeway, it was just a little slower than stock on the road, not too bad

I have the TRD setup with the stock 3.2" pulley which should be good for a rated 288hp 363 lbs/ft. It was installed on a motor with 230k with no problems so far with the exception of a little smoke if left sitting for a few weeks. No additional oil or coolant use. I had the fan clutch serviced and installed one step cooler plugs and she runs slightly cooler than before. As the TRD S/C is no longer available you may need to source a used unit or from someone's stash. Power gain makes the FZ80 much more drivable with highway merging easy and I noticed that my fuel economy has improve with light to moderate throttle usage.

I feel like my fzj100 has enough passing power, maybe it's because the newer motors are rated at 240hp and 300lbs/ft and the A442F trans
The supercharger is gonna be impossible to find here in the GCC while turbo kits are a dime a dozen for the FZ

What timing advance are you running?

I use to work for Robbie id take one of his port polished 4.6 rebuilds over super charger any day

I have a 4.6L complete rebuild/upgrade along with port/polish (was out of the country too much to blueprint) and added the SC 5k miles later. I am EXTREMELY happy with my setup and with 53k since the rebuild and SC addition.

would a timing advance be beneficial for a stock 4.7?

Stock 4.7, as in 2UZ-FE V8? If so, I don't think you can monkey with the timing. No dizzy, only coil packs, etc.

YEah , i started wondering about the coil packs after i asked that question. thanks,

Guess ill just have to save up for the super!
So what would the coil packs offer in terms of power?

I wanted more power too so I got a 4Runner with the 4.7. I'm satiated now. For $6k, I got more power and a dedicated tow rig. My expectation is aligned with reality and the reality is what it is with my 80. The 4.7 is a sweet V8 and it's a blast to drive the 4Runner and the power to weight ratio is stupid, LOL!! The 80 does what it does best and does it reliably and that's all I ask of her. :meh:

Sorry about the slight topic derail!
