Got em. Goodguys is in town so I'll wait a day or two.

Priorities!

It's been one hell of a summer here at the Rainman house. Haven't had a chance to work on the Cruiser in months. Tomorrow, I'll remove the wheels and tires for some new shoes. Then back to the current norm... I'll trailer the STPCHLD to @Vae Victus' place for a month or so. We have a wedding for my daughter coming up soon and the Cruiser has to go.

I'll post shots of the new tires when I can.

The Mrs was in the driveway when I pulled up to drop STPCHLD off and showed no remorse over it being there. Success to @Vae Victus. I had to drop it off to clear more space in the barn for the wedding next month. (I guess the cleanup will end the day before the wedding...)

New running shoes for the Cruiser with one good tire left from before for the spare. Not a perfect match but good enough. This truck still has a slight Cruiser lean to it but it's much better with all new tread under it. The extra tires on the trailer are SMOKEYs new 33X10.50s on grey powder coated steelies. I hope Scott has the hubcaps. They're gonna look great on the truck when it's done.

Congrats to your daughter! I just got married in a barn too!

These kind folks were nice enough to bring me a new top for STPCHLD on Sunday: Michael Blakely (@76FJ40 ) and his buddy Mark. Mike sent me a text on Saturday and said he would be coming up from Huntsville (about 2 hours) just to bring the top. They wanted nothing more than to spend some time with a fellow cruiser head (though I forced Mark to take gas money, and was able give them coupons for free food from one of the Moe's Southwest Grill restaurants that I own. Hopefully they made use of them.)

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it. Mike is part of the Heart of the South Cruisers group in Huntsville. Seems like a pretty active group of folks.

Very happy to have the choice of a top now.

In pretty good shape. Some rust on the bottom of the sides.

Awesome. I wish I could've been there. (Sunday was recovery day after giving away my baby girl.)

Got some free time today in between honey do's, bees, gardens, and the frame off '76 SMOKEY project to release STPCHLD from her tarped sanctuary, clean her out, and re-assess what remains to get this truck running.

If you have forgotten, as I have, what she looks like:

@Rainman was 99.99% done with what he was able to get done before his daughter's wedding. All I did from his work was tighten some nuts, flip one anti-reversal shackle, and drop some cotter pins in some castle nuts.

1. Now I need to buy the seats. Procar 90s I think. Exiting seats got punked by a mouse family while stored, plus they are cloth and nasty. Once purchased I can weld the new seat frame (not before - as the cross bars will be located by the position of the seats).

2. Install gas tank. Remember, it's a newer tank, so new fuel neck and other hardware needed. Will have to strap it down somehow too. I'm not paying $100 per piece (x 4 pieces) for used OEM straps from SOR.

3. Install air filter. Love Rainman's adaptation to a single bottle MC. Waiting on USED carb clamp from SOR.

4. Rig a radiator return bottle.

5. Check the fluids, new battery, drop in the new battery tray, bleed the brakes, get it started, and go.

Nice angle iron bumper!

I love that the seats are close to the same shape as the originals. When you said "ProCar" I got a little nervous and thought you'd lost your mind.

The procar 90's are in my future too - big fan of those seats. Didn't realize you could do custom colors too! Pretty cool.

Just had a change of plans. Found these up in NY, and bought. Shipping by Greyhound.

Also found tool box lid. And tank straps. Prob won't fit new style tank but I'll figure something out.

I'm going to change to Pro90s to be the right color for the other truck (grey, no - black.... no, gray, oh damn, I don't know yet).

Also working to get the seats mounted, and other various things done (new parking brake cable, speedo cable).

Just got a period correct new fuel tank from CCOT. $500+ with shipping and tax. But, it is worth it as the newer tank design creates some fitment and piping issues.

Waiting on fuel neck, and other fuel related connection parts from SOR.

Welcome back! It has been a while. Glad to see you’re still at it.

This is for @Racer65 - question asked in PM. But for sake of repetition:

Whats the size of the combo nut on the fuel intake side of the 2bbl carb set up for a ‘70 fj40? I need to figure out a solution to attach from the existing fuel line, or replace that line and nut with a proper metric nut.
