I ordered a few of these to see if they work off of ebay. $5 shipped from China. This is the USB cable adapter. This will save you $$ to avoid the dealer part, and time to not have to solder wires.

It works great. I posted about them in another scion thread. Of note: mine didnt work at first, had to remove wire from connector and reattach 180 degrees if that makes sense. Quality control I suppose.

*** just found them** How did they work out?
Where can i find the USB connector from China? do you have a part number or link to order? BTW thanks for your detailed write up, great help.

Need a little help... 1997 LC

I bought the HU t1819, all the adapters needed for the usb, antenna, and BT. Here is where the fun starts, the issue is probably something basic that i forgot while reading the steps for install. I connected both grey plugs per instructions, connected the antenna, Disconnected my 2 plugs coming from the amp.

HU turns on but no sound. Everything seems to be working except I can't get any sound to the speakers, what am I missing?

I thought it was going to be a straight forward install and I am running into trouble.

I know it's an old thread but any help would be great

Volume???

Did you have an aftermarket radio before, or stock? i am wondering if someone already hacked the wires.

I just did this in a second car, and there was nothing else really to do. If you had an LX, there might be more, but you say LC.

2fpower, thanks for the response, I messed with the wires until I figured out. I had originally plugged both grey connectors into the HU (read the instructions wrong). I found that one goes directly and the other goes into the harness, and then there was sound!!!!

The install was a labor of love but well worth it. I paired the head unit with some infinity 6.5" reference speakers 6032si front and center row, and it sounds great.

The only thing I'm reading about is the HD radio function, not sure if I have buy a special antenna to make it work.

Great write up 2fpower

@2fpower do you have a link or a seller from ebay of the USB cable you bought? I bought one on amazon that came from China that looked just like that however the audio quality was crappy. It would make crackling and popping noises when use my iPod and then lose connection after a minute or two.

I do have the USB adapter from Toyota/Scion that I modified like shown in the earlier posts but I wanted to get and easier solution

Would it be possible to cut the USB adapter cable from Toyota and spice on a regular USB A female cable?????? Would this work?

saw that the link to the manual does not work anymore.

Search for manual PT546-00120

I want to do this bump

I picked up a T1819 on ebay for $45. Got a chance to plug it in tonight just to confirm it works, which it does :) Here are the adapter harnesses I ordered and can confirm work.

I ordered this USB bulkhead mount cable. It is quite a bit smaller than the knockouts in the dash. I intend on cutting a square hole in one of the knockout, but it would be nice to find a flush mount that fits the Toyota openings:

Bluetooth is for another day...

I installed my unit several years ago, and have recently lost all sound coming through the unit. Has anyone had a similar experience? The sound did return for a single day about a month later, but has not reared its head again? Is the unit toast? Thanks

I have 3 of these in my different rigs, and all are doing fine years later. Sounds like a loose connection.

I have this head unit stock in my 2013 Scion xD.

Does anyone know or have the wiring diagram for the radio?

I am trying to figure out which wire the speed detection is that turns off bluetooth pairing ability when the car is moving.

thanks for any help!

Has anyone used these listed adaptors to install a scion PT546-18130?

The connections on the back appear to be the same as the T1819 but it has an additional plugin next to the gray USB plug. Anyone know what that one is for?

I want the 3 low amp outputs to install an external amp.

looked into it as was already staring at three scion pioneer units i have on hand, T1819, T1801 & T1806 & trying to decide what to do with them
think 16-pin may be for rear camera on yours

Couple of years ago I installed (PT296-18190-20) which is the radio head unit for the Toyota 86.
Was direct plug hook up to factory plugs in my '93 FZJ80 and gives me Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Just had to Dremel trim a bit of the bezel so the HU would fit in, then add the USB plug to one of the knocks outs below.
Has worked without issue!
