03 Land Cruiser
Last week my power steering started making noise, so I popped the hood and the reservoir was low. Added ATF and it was fine.
Today the same thing happened. I crawled underneath the truck, and there is ATF dripping through the driver side of the skid plate. I haven't pulled the skid, but I can see both ends of the steering rack, and neither appear wet. The PO told me he replaced the rack about 30k miles ago with an aftermarket unit (205k now).
For the past month or so, upon braking, my pedal has shaken and the wheel has kind of jumped around in my hands. I assumed I just needed to get my rotors resurfaced since it only happens when I brake.
Is it possible I've let the shaking from the warped rotor go too long and it's stressed the rack to the point of failure?
