Steel wheels?

To be honest, I’m not sure. Haven’t been too concerned with mileage since it sucks anyway. I can’t imagine adding rotational weight will change it much.

whats the fascination with steel wheels? they aren't the best lookers, is it about weight?

Where did you get those wheels? Can you provide a link? Just bought a 2002 100 Series and would love these.

Had them made out of a set of 70 series split rims and Stockton custom cut them. Being a custom cut wheel, they never could quite get balanced right, had to go back to Stockton once to get “fixed” and they still were a bitch to balance.

Another option is the ‘07 and up Tundra spare tire steel wheel. Comes in 18” and are fairly easy to come by.

Here are those 79-series take offs—16x6. Work great, weigh only about 7 lbs more per wheel/tire pair than the 18s I took off. Still getting 15-17 mpg.
Wish they had a bit more positive offset to make the setup look geekier and reduce the huge gaps between inside of rim and rear lower shock mounts, but love them.

It's subjective, just like ugly paint colors ;)

They're cheap, can be light weight, and give a utilitarian look some people like.

Are these rims available in the states?

@bobNoobie :
They're 235/86R16--I like 'em tall and skinny.

@hotdogger : Not entirely sure--I believe they're part number 42611-60D30, which sure looks order-able on many of the big Toyota parts' places websites (example below)

@Pskhaat I can’t find anything online and haven’t measured it, but assuming stock wheels are 16x8 with 30mm offset, and eyeballing the gap between these and the rear shock mount, I’d say somewhere between 15 and 0mm...I can try to get a rough measurement tonight if there’s an easy way to do that.

@Pskhaatassuming stock wheels are 16x8 with 30mm offset,

Stock 16x8 is +60mm :)

235/85r16 is world-standard, and thus I would assume it actually also to be between 58-60mm:

Not sure if one can draw firm conclusions on offset based on tire size—these sit a good bit more outboard than the stock rims. I lost, what 2” of tire width and yet my outside sidewalks are noticeably more fender-wise than the stock tires (285/70r18s IIRC), so I’m guessing I lost most/all of my positive offset.

This site, found in about 3 minutes of haphazard research, seems to indicate stock offset for 79 series rims is 0, although there’s an excellent chance I’m misreading it...

Not exact wheel... but probably very similar. I believe he is a mud member and also local...
