"Land Cruiser" and "Walmart" are diametrically opposed statements. You just can't get there from here......:flipoff2:

My best ever oil analysis was on WalMart Supertech oil and a Motorcraft filter

That was a $10 oil change - back when Supertech was less than $4.50 for 5 quarts. Those days appear to be gone!

How much?

Does anyone know how much each 90915-20004 filter weighs, in each box or case, as well as what their dimensions are?

The reason I'm asking this is because I was able to contact a Denso filter dealer and he's willing to cut me a good deal (relatively speaking here) on them. But I need to figure out how much they weigh, as well as how many of them I can cram into a big box so I can figure out the shipping charges on them.

I'll post my findings once I find out the weight/size.

T.I.A.

Our company does quite a bit of work for the two Denso plants here in East Tennessee. Wonder it they could just stick a box of 100 or so in their next shipment? :D

a case of 10 filters has a size marking of 161x107x397 and weighs 8.0 lbs

Rick,

I'm assuming that those numbers are in mm's, right?

ANYWAY, I'm goint to post what I can offer, but I'm going to hit the sack right away because it's almost 1:30 in the morning here and more importantly, I don't handle disappointments very well (of not hearing positive comments from you guys after posting the pricing. :flipoff2:)

First of all, please bear with me as I have not done these filters before, but I was assured by the Denso filter guy that these are exactly the same thing as the filter in question.

Also, for now let's do a minimum of 1 case per order to keep it simple (for me;) )

OK, here it goes...

1 case (10 filters): $150US, or $15/filter, including shipping to your door.

2 cases: $14.50/filter
3 cases: $14.00/filter
4 cases: $13.50/filter
5 cases: $13.00/filter
6 cases: $12.50/filter
7 cases: $12.00/filter
8 cases: $11.50/filter

All prices include shipping via slowboat (upto around two months) to your door and/but does not include the customs charges/duty which I have no idea how much they would charge.

8 cases were the most I "should" be able to fit per shipment because of the weight limit the postal service puts on their slowboat (and regular air) shipping (30 kgs).

It might possibly be 7 cases and a change, depends on how (much) I pad it.

Anyway, if I were a good salesman I would say something like "Your 80, 100, FJC, 4Runner, GX only deserve the best!!!:flipoff2: "

And lastly, but not the least, I need to thank semlin for suggesting me to contact Denso (filter) dealers for being able to offer a half-decent prices like these.

Let me know if you feel that I'm ripping you off too badly here. ;p

Good night!

Mot ;)

can anyone say group buy? 8 cases and it almost looks worth it except for the customs thing. that would be 6.1% duty into Canada plus 6% GST and 7% PST.

MOT, I would get in touch with Crushers or another Canadian Importer. He regularly imports JDM cruisers into Canada. Cruisers have lots of room inside them where filters can fit and he will not be anywhere near his weight allowance. Wayne would probably not be adverse to making a buck on these things. Another thought is Greg or Sheldon at G&S. I think they ship mostly parts in but still might have room for these in a crate.

i think if the price gets down low enough you could sell these all day long. do a google search on the toyota p/n# and you will see they are spoken of whistfull everywhere Toyota owners gather to talk in forums, whether they run supras, 4runners, lexus sedans or FJ cruisers. everybody wants the original equipment filters with the cool looking red media ;)

Yeh, that's going to get kind of pricey once you add another round of shipping to get it to the individual. Too steep for my taste anyways. I'm probably just going to switch to WIX when I run out of the Toy filters.

well, you could have a few cases sent to an individual / club who is sure to go or be near CruiseMoab and similar events for distribution. So once a year you'd get your case of 10 with no additional shipping. Easy enough...

Those are the numbers printed on the inside flap of the case box, I'm sure they are mm. As far as the weight goes, it was me w/filters compared to me wo/filters on the bathroom scale, so I'm not sure how accurate that is either since it displays in .5lb increments.

You didn't happen to have eaten a box of donuts in between, did you? :D

Thanks for doing that, Rick, I really appreciate it!

Mot :)

without being silly, what do people think is the magic number to make these things attractive enough to bother about?

I'm thinking a price here of US$9.99 or less plus north american shipping?

I can see it now, all of us crowded around a pallet...

A bystandards conversation of, "What are those guys doing? Are they passing out the T-shirts for the event?"

"No they are getting their annual oil filter supply!" ;)

newbie here

I have been lurking on this wonderful site and amongst the great guys here for quite a while now. This is my first post.

After calling CruiserDan who suggested that I talk to MOT, I have been exchanging PMs with him and just confirmed ny interest in 5 or so cases of these magical 90915-20004 oil filters. I would be willing to help in any other way I can, including getting more filters in one shipment so that others can share in the order as well.

MOT: I will await further details. I am in Rochester, NY, which is close to Buffalo. I mention this because Buffalo, NY may be a more international shipping/customs port than Rochester, NY.

Anybody else, please let me know if there is anyway I can help to set up a regular supply of these filters at my end, with MOT as the source.

I look forward to being a regular member here for a looooooooong time.

Later.

VCheng.

Edited to add postscript:

PS: I estimate the size of a case of 10 filters at 15.75 inches by 7 inches by 4.5 inches with a wieght of just over 7 lbs.

5 cases? vcheng, are you a vendor? a cruiser owner who does a lot of miles??

Nope, just a private certified car nut with three vehicles that can use these filters that I plan on keeping a long time. The emphasis is on the NUT part in the previous sentence!

Cheers!

Before I get some of you excited please allow me to confirm something with the dealer:

Even though I had requested for a Denso filter with the part number of 115010-5020 (Toyota's #: 90915-20004) the filter guy has not told me that it was made in Japan and was the same "type".

So I've just asked him for a picture of the exact product, if at all possible.
I also asked him to confirm that it was manufactured by Denso, in Japan, and with the part number of 115010-5020.

I'll let you know what I find out and apologize in advance if all of this turns out to be for nothing.

How about if we group together and buy a pallet full of these filters to save on the shipping from Japa via slow boat?

I'm in Dallas and have access to loading docks in Houston. What does it cost to ship 1000 filters via slow boat from Japan?
