Started to bring my 74 FJ40 back to life.

I bolted them thru both sides of the frame with 3/8" grade 8 bolts. I thought about welding them but i plan on flipping my springs and might want to move them.

Better pic? Of mounting?

I will get some better pics this week.

I am going to have to notch the mounts to keep the tire from hitting the reservoir. But I can say the shocks are pretty smooth. Need to put some on the back now.

I got around to putting a lock on the glove box so I could store a few things and keep the cd player face in it.

Finally got around to fliping my front springs and I just got 4x4labs steering arms today. Cant wait to get it back out on the road.

Here are the pics of the steering arms. They really are top quality and very beefy. Since I flipped the front springs it improved the geometry of the tie rod. I had to put some wheel spacers to move the tires out and keep them away from the shock reservoir and from hitting the front. My square tube drive shaft was too short so I took one of my spare rear 60 shaft and cut it down to work.

Took it out on a 40 mile trip to the pumpkin patch. I hate to say it but I think it rides better than my 60. I think I gained a inch of height in the front.

Had to have Luke rebend my passenger side steering arm to keep the tierod from hitting the fram on full compression. Put on the rear wheel spacers to keep both axles the same width and some longer shackles in the rear to level out the truck. Picked up some of the new warn lights too.

U have your old shackles? I might actually need a set.

Took the 40 out for the last time till spring. The bent steering arm worked perfect. One of the KM2's not so perfect. I got a 3" slash between the side wall lugs.

Its the greatest thing since sliced bread lol. I use it on most of the trails I run.

Storage under rear seat

Does the rear seat have enough room to fit the tuffy storage box that is listed to work with the tj. Looking to buy both for my 74 cruiser.

I don't know how the box would fit but the seat fits great.

Hey can you give me some info on the seat you put in back of your 40. Been looking at ironpig and ccot. Cheaper alternative? Doing front and rear new seats looking for a cheaper way to go.
Thanks.

Not much has changed in the last year and half. having two kids under 3 slows land cruiser time down. I had been planning on upgrading the vr8000 winch for a at least the last four years. I sold my first one and was planning on buying a 8274 then found out baby#2 was coming so bought another vr8000. So finally last month my buddy put a arb bumper on his 60 and offered to buy my vr. I looked and warn had a 150 rebate and found one on sale so I jumped.
I mounted it up yesterday. I'm probably going to have to redo my front bumper but it works for now. I have learned after this weekend to keep extra battery's for my welding helmet. And thinking you have leather gloves on when you grinding don't go work too good

Not a whole lot has changed in the last 5 years. I have ripped off a spring hanger or two and had to patch and just recently upgraded to roughstuff mounts and hangers on the rear and the front will soon follow. The aftermarket springs fit much better in the mounts.

I also took a old crusty set of stock wheels and widened them 2.6” and added beadlocks. They were a pita but turned out good.
