@vipergrhd I'm pretty sure were aLl down to leave as early as possible Friday morning. Shoot, from Sacramento we can head strait to mattaylors and then from there we make like a fetus and head out.

So where should the bay area guys meet up?? Im in the North Bay/Marin area.

Ok good to know... So we are camping at the 4x4 only campground, did not say in the first post and I know that we were looking at other places a few pages back because of the number of rigs and what not.

First lets find out how many are from the bay area would like to meet up let say Fairfield or Vacaville then drive up the camp ground together and maybe stop by at Matt Taylor's place.I can leave as early as 6 a.m then meet up to an area where we could wait for others then convoy to Auburn.maybe we could grab a quick breakfast while waiting, what you guys think?Let's hear it boys and gals.

Just to make it clear this is for Friday morning heading up the campground. Thanks

I'm heading out of Novato early on Friday. Camping is one of the only things it's easy to get up for. I'm down to caravan with anyone that's in between the bay to the dirt. Fairfield at 6am sounds like a good meet up spot for the Bay Area folk.

jeezbus there is going to be a big old party going on that weekend, im going to grab as many sites as i can on that thursday somehow then yeah...ill pitch my tent at one of them. i think i can snag 3 campgrounds by myself, one for Darrell to share and possibly some other guys that need a big site for their famillies. however i can possibly snag a 4th site if someone needs it. i dont need a whole lot of room so i can probably share a site with a couple guys AS LONG AS THERE ARE NO KIDS AT MY SITE! i drink and am loud and stay up late so fair warning with anyone that wants to share a site.

since the campground is no reservations before hand i might be able to fool some people driving in with paper plates or little reserved signs when i go up, i dont know if thats illegal though so yeah just let me know if i can save a site for you or something.

yall would get there around 12 then so thats cool.

honestly i would say skip 49 through and just take truckee then north of 89 and cut over, its faster since you dont have to drive the twisty road that is 49. just my 2 cents

I dont care what route we take. Ill link up with anyone out of the bay area between 101 North or Sacramento. Fairfield is fine with me. Im not sure if we really need multiple rally points. Maybe just one big one along the route...

I'll probably leave San Jose between ~10:30-11:30pm Thursday night, hopefully arriving in the early hours of the morning; with any luck we might be able to snag a few of the sites near the end of the trail. The big site at the end of the trail, (the one in the panoramas I posted), might be best used as the primary/communal site where everyone meets. (it has a big fire pit and enough space for everyone to hangout). It may still end up getting crammed full; everything sorta depends on how many people are up there before we show up.

@KWalkerM , put top priority on that big site at the end. Hopefully Chad and I will get there soon enough to snag another spot or two. If worse comes to worse, you might just have to control yourself! ;)

Another thing I just remembered... if everyone could bring a little firewood... (or a lot if you want!), then we should have enough for a good bonfire or two.

As far as routes are concerned, feel free to take whichever one you guys want. lol 49 is just the way I've always gone, i cant say for sure if its the fastest. :)

I think @KeepCruzin has a solid point about not having multiple rally points. Unless you live relatively close to each other, it may be best to simply hit the road on your own and meet up in Auburn for the last push to Gold Lake. ... but I'm splitting hairs now... do what you want. :steer:

hey darrell i think we should definitely hunker down on those end sites and make it the main hub for the weekend with a big fire etc. im considering making some T shirts if anyone is interested in that at the local print shop, probably 10-15 bucks a pop, just an idea. ill be headin up around 6 on thursday and should get there by 7ish hopefully. definitely skipping class/work that day depending on what i have going on that friday.

Depending on who is going with me (BIL is out and friend might be out with the smaller venue with no trailer access other than a few miles away) I may try and head up either Thursday night (and take Friday off) or will probably be up Friday night. Will have to see what the boss's schedule is like. If it is just me then I will post up in the truck sans tent so will share a site with someone more than likely.

So do folks have Plan Bs in case the sites are full when you arrive? If Gold Lake and Little Gold Lake are full when we arrive, what are some other options near a lake?

Also, what are folks planning on doing during the trip? I know lots of guys are bringing kayaks, bikes, fishing poles, etc etc. I'd like to run Snake Lake early Saturday - anybody up for it? After that I'll probably float around in the lake since I don't have a bike.

Regarding nabbing a camp site just put up folding chairs. No one violates the sanctity of a folding chair.

I'm taking the 49. It's about the same amount of time if your not hauling a trailer and prettier. Gas Valley is a good place to get grass--strike that, reverse it--that might be a good meet up spot.

I'll bring some firewood and there is plenty to collect out there too. I like big fire!

And put me down for a t-shirt in large.

Anyone have a ham radio?

I know three good meet-up spots between Auburn and the start of 49 from years of MTB in the area.

This turn-out off of 80 just before Auburn has gas and food and is usually quiet:

The In 'n' Out burger in Auburn has food. Depends on what time you're meeting, I suppose:

And just on the beginning of 49 out of Nevada City is a big turnout past the County Gov't offices:

I'll do an XL t-shirt

@jcardona1 I'm planning on fishing, hiking , and if possible some shooting.

Ok since someone volunteer to do the shirts i will take two XL shirts one for me and the better half, make sure you get the good quality shirts Kyle.I agree on the issue of one meeting point or stops, maybe it would be best just to meet in Auburn.Since there are a few of us coming from the Bay area it would be cool to convoy going there i will go with whatever the majority decides for now.@Haring Bagsik and i planned to meet near his house in Elk grove or maybe SAC along I-80 anyway. My question for those that have made this trip more than once what would be the best place to meet or route to take considering there could be 20 plus rigs headed out that way. Thanks for the suggestion @fasteddy for the meeting places.

sounds good, ill make the shirts worth it but yall gotta buy em all! anyone that wants one please shoot me a visitor message with size and number of them. if anything i can sucker my bosses into buying the extra haha ill have to find some generic cruiser picture and ill put the date/area on it. anyone have a good name for this trip like Surf and Turf??? haha

maybe... cruiser gold rush, NorCal Cruiser Campout, get tanked and party in the woods without your SO week, anyone? i need some cool shirts...ill talk to our local print shop soon to see what i can do
