jumping into yet another no-start thread. I'm at my Witts end with this no-start issue. I'm starting to think about removing the old alarm system, which mine has not been in place completely or working for over 20 years so I'm not sure if that's it. Here are two clips from my no-start last night. Here is what I've done so far trying to solve this issue:
1. starter contacts.
2. New starter.
3. new fusible link.
4. new power feed cable from the starter to the battery.
5. new ground wire.
6. I've tried shifting into Neutral and still no start.
7. New battery

Here are two videos from last night and what I find odd is in the first video you can hear that the starter doesn't sound like it's activating at all. In the second video, you can hear the starter click, but nothing.

So now I'm at the point where I've not removed the entire alarm and I have not replaced the ignition. But I'm almost at the point where I'm just going to wire a push button momentary starter button and bypass everything.

It’s the alarm. Pull it. Mine did exactly the same thing.

I am going to try to pull the alarm this weekend. Will try to report back.

Here is a thread with pics (on p. 2... and some that I posted... a real mess... lol... on p. 3). Pulling the alarm solved my no crank/no start issue immediately. Since removal, it's started every time... on the first try.

bypass the plugs as in earlier post i believe

Doorlocks can still work with the ignition imobilizer bypassed

If I remove my alarm, how will I unlock my doors 😂? None of my keys work on my doors unless the stars align perfectly.
Get new keys cut per the VIN.

When my key starts to hang up in the door, I get new keys cut. I have one master key that I keep in the drawer that all the other "daily" keys are cut from. I average 1 or 2 keys per year. It's my DD, so I'm in and out a lot.

The "square shoulder" wears down, so the key doesn't land where it's supposed to and engage everything properly.

I typically get 10 cut at a time. (Cheap ones, not Toyota brand ones)

Here's your update. Spent some time this weekend trying to tackle this project. First off, I think many years ago I had already removed much of the alarm. I did not find any alarm module under the driver seat, or anywhere under the dash below the steering wheel or in the DS kick panel. However I did find this plug harness in line. So I removed it and plugged the connections directly into themselves (think that makes sense).

Keep in mind, before doing this my truck would not start. I tried it at least 5 times.

Removed this connection and the truck started up immediately. Actually felt like the start signal was stronger, not sure how to calculate that but it immediately fired up. Turned it off and tried it several times. Started every time.

Drove it around town and it started every time quickly.

Finger crossed this might have solved the issue.

Right on. Here's to hoping that the issue is solved. Yes, plugging the connections back together is exactly the way to do it... don't ask me how I know... lol.

My wife's truck has started quickly, and every time, since pulling the alarm system.

ewww. who the heck did that when you could just unplug the dang thing completely, like you just did!

Still starting strong, so far! fingers remained crossed.

Yea, the previous owner hacked up the dash and wiring for a sound system and different alarm. I thought I had taken most of it out, but obviously some unfinished business remained hidden.
