My Fellow Knights,

My headliner has seen better days, so I think about replacing it one day (it bugs the :princess:)

One thought I had was mounting speakers above the front and rear seats before that time comes.

Has anyone done so?

I figured I would just use the magnets to stick them straight to the roof skin, run wiring, and then install headliner over them - invisible!

One question I have is would sound quality be impacted by the headliner material?

I think this would be :grinpimp: vs. cutting holes in the door skins...

Lets see what audio alternatives you have come up with!

I think if they are simply hanging off the magnets you'll get rattles with bass and a good bump and you might get hit in the head with a speaker!!

Since the roof on your truck is missing paint anyways you could probably create some kind of mount bonded or welded to the roof or roof support though I still think you'd get rattles, either from the roof support or the proximity of the speaker to the roof skin. If you don't have rattles you'd probably have killer bass though!!

I have my speakers behind the rear cargo panels, one on each side since I had the bits left when I restored my piggy. I know it's not ideal but then a '55 is not Carnegie Hall either!!!

I like the idea. Think you will have to perforate the vinyl to get the sound through. I'd only reccomend mid and high range speakers. Instead of relying on the magnet to hold it up use epoxy to secure it. Then maybe a base box in the rear with an 8 inch woofer. I'm sure you could get creative and hide it also.
