so we are trying to get this 40 to fire. Started last week When dumping fuel into the carb. Just put an OEM fuel pump on and now we are not getting spark. Not sure if we broke whatever that is on top of the coil, but both sides are pulling 12v. Getting 12 volts to the top of the distributor but no spark at the plugs. So we put a new rotor and cap on and still no spark. Looks to be an electronic ignition, but I have no idea how this stuff works beyond the rotor. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

That electronic ignition made by Crane uses a tiny LED light, and the slotted disk below it picks up the light and triggers the coil. They were popular about 15 years ago. Not so much now. Putting on a new pump should not have any effect on the ignition. The broken ceramic "thing" is a standard ballast resistor that reduces the voltage from 12 to about 8 volts when oem points are closed, but I can't remember if it is necessary when using the Crane ignition. Some electronic boxes are designed to want 12 volts and some will work with the reduced voltage. I can't tell from your photos where all your coil wires are going. Also, can't see a high tension line going from the center of the coil to the dizzy cap. Whatever high tension wire that is in the center of the dizzy cap doesn't look "normal" to me from the little I can see of it. Probably going to need to have some friend who is familiar with ignition systems take a look at it and cleanup the wiring.
