I didn't want to derail the coffee thread any more than I already have.:grinpimp:

Answer the poll and tells us about your vote.

I happen to love Spam, fried up crisp or diced up in mac and cheese, even sliced thin and served cold on white bread with mustard.

AFTER READING THE COFfEE THREAD i decided to go camping this weekend so i can cook corned beef hash and eggs for breakfast and fried spam for lunch

still have to try it in mac 'n' cheese.

I love it fried crisp though, it gets a crisp bacon exterior, but a nearly jelly-like interior.
I really want to try smoking a can of SPAM, too!

I'm hawaiian so I'm supposed to love it, but I've never liked the stuff, though we had it quite a bit.

when i was growing up we had 'treet meat" brand ...like spam but cheaper............fried on a egg samich.......:D

I like my spam grilled. I have a small propane grill I use when camping. Also at home when I'm just grilling for one of two. I use the grill to get rid of most of the fat from it. When camping I also grill my bacon. At home I broil bacon. I put it on a drying rack placed in a cake pan. Then I cook it under the broiler. Spam also broils nicely using the same cake pan and drying rack setup.

As for how I eat it, on a bun with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and BBQ sauce. I'll also eat it with egg and sharp cheddar cheese on a biscuit or bagel. I'll even eat it just dipped in BBQ sauce.

Hiked up to a bare rock ridge at about 6000 feet while moose hunting... overlooking a grassy vally with swampy feed areas around a river...

Open a can of spam, slice it up by forcing it down over the sharp edge of the can and build a fire with the few twigs available inside the can after turning it on it's side. Cook the slices on top of the can.

Add a couple of pocket sized packs of crackers and you have a pretty self contained lunch.

Mark...

That kind of reminds me of eating a cold can of corned beef hash I found in a hikers hut in Oregon. Beat the hell out of going hungry.

Perspective is an amazing thing.

I like to throw a can or two into the smoker for long cooks (upwards of 4 hours) that way there's a nice, meaty, smokey snack you can throw on a plate with some soft, sharp cheese (I like goat cheese for this) and a couple loaves of crusty bread.

How about a few pictures of that on your new-to-you roll top table!

oh, I feel ya there. My best buddy and I like to camp out on the coast every now and again, and get away from it all. We call it "Man Steak" night, because it's time for us to get away from everything, and just be men in the outdoors, and steak, well, that's the meal of choice. Though one time it was honey-mustard pork chops, and another time a Dutch Oven chicken.
I'm hoping to fit one trip out for Man Steak in the weeks preceding the trip. Nothing against my other camping friends, but they can be drama llamas sometimes...

I think SPAM has will be on the breakfast menu soon enough... you know, to keep this thread on track- I mean, because I haven't experimented with the glorious canned meat enough yet...

tables on the truck from Windsor. Gotta go unlock the gate.
