Dan you really know this SPAM stuff don't you?!! Next to the SPAM on the shelf at my local grocery store was a variety of Luncheon Meat flavors competing for my interest, it gave me even more of an insatiable courosity to learn more of the SPAM. Too busy this AM and tomorrow to grill some up so I'll give it a go on Saturday.
Bradda's huh? I'm so going on a mission. Friends in San Diego were telling me of a place that sells all kine hawaiian stuff - locals brand slippahs too.
Heading back to the islands for easter weekend - I'll post pictures of everything I eat!
Dan- Thanks for calling me up on this, I will make SPAM with eggs tomorrow AM with some salsa verde and report back......anticipating baby number 3, wife is due any day......

Ha,ha. Only in hawaii you can get the "Local Deluxe Platter" at Mcdonalds. I just went back awhile ago and saw 8 different types of spam. I love the stuff. Nothing like fishing, drinking some beers and a spam musubi.
BTW, the price of "locals" are slowly going up. Whenever i go back my friends ask me to get them for them.
Could not resist on the title.... Anyway, as promised here is this AM's contribution to Dan's SPAM thread. I plated the concoction on a styrofoam plate, which seemed appropriate for no other reason then "because" , followed by two eggs over easy, two lightly crisp, thinly sliced, piece of SPAM, salsa verde and pepper jack cheese. Initial reaction to overcome some of my initial ingrained disgusted was difficult, but I was already committed to giving it a try: my perseverance was met with a crispy, warm, surprisingly, delicious taste, that I will equate to consistency of bacon- yum. No plans to make this a morning ritual, but the extra can has deserved a spot in the pantry for future consumption. One converted vote from "I have a good e-mail filter and never get any." to "Yes I love it (in moderation, of course)". Thanks for the enlightening guys!
My indoctrination to spam happened during a climbing trip in Bishop, CA. It was Thanksgiving and we returned from the market with turkey Spam as a joke. Turned out to be not bad so we started experimenting with other Spam varieties.
All time favorite was spam on a bagel with pepperjack cheese. Some mayo if you had it.
What's not to like? Toss it in the truck for half a year, open the can and enjoy.
As a side note...a friend of mine was on a big wall climb in Yosemite. They had run out of food but found a can of "Lite-Treet" which they ate with gusto. I guess anything tastes good when you're 3000 feet off the ground.
[tongue in cheek]Anything in a box. It kind of depends on what kind of hangover you want. Box reds tend to be more thumping head "why the hell is the sun so bright" hangovers. Box whites seem to give more of a pit of the stomach "I wish I would hurl and get it over with" kind of hangover.[/tongue in cheek]
Made me a Spambuger for lunch today! No one in my family unit wanted to try it, but I saw single serving packets at the market that were perfect for a single Spambuger with munster cheese and a few grilled onions.
It's been a long time since I had any Spam, not bad, but better a little more well done IMHO..LOL
