For OEM did you go with this seller? or do you have a link?

How do we protect ourselves making sure Ebay sellers give us legitimate new OEM parts?

$840 is a great price and likely just a few 100 more then pleidas, and if you wait for Ebay coupons it could likely be cheaper.

This guy has a set for $599. Claims to be new OEM.

That link looks interesting, but the seller lists shipping to UK only, despite the auction on USA ebay and in USD. Anyone try to order?

Edit: I now see in the description that he gives USA transit times, so I guess maybe the auction is just set up weird.

For many years since the 80's I have driven many Citroen DS and after that Citroen CX's as daily drivers

Originally the Citroen DS sphere was basically 2 screwed together parts

DS Sphere

and de CX spheres were totally sealed and closed

CX Sphere

Both spheres were interchangeable, only they were pressurized on a different nitrogen pressure.

When the CX sphere came out (interchangeable) a lot of DS drivers complaint about them because they didn't have the same comfort level, the Citroen Gurus at that time explained that because the membrane of the CX sphere was a little smaller then the original Citroen DS sphere it gave a little harder ride and therefore also Citroen had tried to balance it this by giving it a higher pressure of nitrogen.

After some time these complaints faded away slowly as people couldn't compare them anymore as the citroen DS Spheres had become NA.

I'm not sure but it seems to me that the diameter of the Pleiades spheres looks a little smaller then the OEM Sphere

Do the Pleiades and the OEM have the same diameter on the widest point ?

Here’s a comparison between my OEM and Pleiades. I think these were rear spheres

Pleiades suspension spheres

I think you have to order directly, maybe even call in. Last I heard they are £110 each plus around £65 shipping to USA.
Yep, I emailed back and forth with them but did have to call to actually place the order by credit card. Be sure to call your bank first and let them know you're expecting a foreign transaction by phone.

The Pleiades are smaller, at 385cc, than both the front and rear OEM globes, at 400cc and 500cc respectively. The lower gas volume paired with a higher nitrogen charge makes for an increase in spring rate over factory.

So they are smaller and with a higher charge they make up to balance out the spring rate in difference to OEM and even better. :hmm:

Another Pleiades customer here. Very easy to work with on the phone and I'm happy with the price/performance so far.

Are the Citroen membranes compatible with the Toyota AHC fluid. I vaguely recall that Citroen had a fluid switchover at some point and some of their globes were specifying different fluids. That was a long time ago though.
Looks like only time will tell how durable and compatible these guys are. So, the premium divided by time or mile may be justified.

Update: I went with OEM from ebay. $839 minus 15% (capped at $100) came out to $739 shipped. Took about 10 days, though I did follow up with the seller after about 5 days since there was past feedback suggesting he was slow. When it finally shipped it was overnight I think.

Arrived in 4 DHL bags. No customs fees. I believe $800 may be the limit for that. I informed the seller and mentioned that I had used the coupon. He said it would be no problem to note the amount I paid. Because it was 4 separate packages I'm not sure if he actually ended up doing that. I only bring it up because I don't want anyone to get surprised if they order and happen to get import duty. I'd email the seller before and I'm sure they will make sure it's not an issue.

I'm happy with that price and would not personally go aftermarket for the ~$100 difference.

Very nice, this is the same exact seller I had posted earlier and I mentioned with a coupon its a no brainer going OEM at that price, $739 shipped is very good! Combine it with cash back offers from credit cards, and cashback from ebay there are many ways to make this even sweeter and of course timing your purchase with sales.

@Qtonic and @95Fantasma80 (or anyone) Where do I get a 15% off eBay coupon (that works for this item)?

I was searching for some new globes/shperes/accumulators and came across these:
WTV-UK = Manufacture & Official Agent/Distributor

The seller sells different kits:
Kit-1: Full Comfort Kit-4C - Designed to work the same as the original spheres, etc.. best & softest comfort ride
Kit-2: Full Comfort Plus Kit-4P - Designed for Carrying heavy loads & towing, etc.. more stability with good comfort ride
Kit-3: Full Sports Kit-4S - Designed for Carrying heavy loads/towing, sporty hard driving & hard off road driving, etc. = more all-round stability with good comfort ride

A kit of four with shipping in the UK is £549.99, Europe £579.99, worldwide £599.99

Has anyone tried these?

You just have to check daily, pretty much. They are advertised on the front page, though occasionally you may get one targeted to your account in your messages. There are sometimes category restrictions such as 'housewares', but most of the time auto parts are included.

The amount varies, as does the maximum benefit. I've seen it top out between $50 and $150 off. It seems like lately they've been popping up every ~3 weeks maybe. During the holidays there were several. I wouldn't be surprised to see another one soon though. Obviously it only works for non-urgent things unless you get lucky.

I'm considering starting a 'deals' thread that would be ongoing similar to the black Friday thread from last month. It might be a good way to crowdsource the effort and identify other bargains.

I bought two rear Pleiades globes that were shipped last Thursday from the UK. They arrived on my porch in South Alabama today. Two globes including four day shipping was $352.52. I bled AHC fluid, used hammer and chisel, easily got old globes off and installed new globes by hand tightening. The LX was very bouncy in the rear. Now it is buttery. I am losing fluid from the DS front shock area but not sure why. Im hoping all the pressures will settle and leak will stop.

How have these globes treated you Bull?

I have accquired an ‘03 and am located up in North AL.

They have been flawless thus far. LX rides perfectly. Could not be easier to install by hand. No tighteing wrench needed.
