SORICH,
I'm interested in your wheel/tire combo. What size and offset are the wheels? Any rubbing with the tires? Have you noticed annoying shift points after the bigger tires changed the final drive ratio?
I've been reasearching tires and that same size looks like it might be the perfect "big tire" for the 100.

Edit: I just re-read your post. You went with 285/75/R16, I had in mind 285/75/R17. So an inch larger diameter, same width. But still curious to hear your comments.

Thanks!
I'm using the stock LX wheels with those (nearly) 33" tires and have had no rubbing issues at all. I've had a chance to do some decent trails now that we've moved to Colorado, and even at articulation there has been no rubbing. I'm really happy with this combo, but am still tempted to either get Slee wheel spacers or some rims with a bigger offset to get that wider stance.... primarily for the look. I'll post here if I do.

How'd it go?

Went well. I barely needed anything to crosslevel (1/4 inch difference l-to-r) and then went 3 full cranks at first and then a 4th. Ride was much better. I added the Gamiviti rack when I was in Colorado and needed to crank the TB's 1/2 turn to get the same feel. It's ballparked, but rides much better. I'll get my own techstream later this week and will be able to check the pressures and be more accurate in my approach. I'm thinking I'll probably need spacers on the rear or new springs (previous owner had it for 8 years and never replaced any springs and there is no history of any replacement.....so.....20 years old).

Nice. Yeah my rideninproved a lot when I got pressures in line. The rear springs made a difference. I'm expecting to have to get rear spacers on the springs once I install a rear bumper and roof rack. Hopefully that will be enough to relieve pressures from the weight

Yeah, I'm gonna price some springs later today. Did you get yours from a Toyota/Lexus dealer?

Yup. $300 for the pair.

Did you get moved?
Sure did! We go out here the first week of June and have been loving it. Using the truck a whole lot to explore the mountains, but not working on the truck much recently. Probably will again soon.

Quick update....

My drivers side door got flung open pretty hard in a wind storm as I was opening it a month or two ago. Hard enough to break the door check assembly, bend the front guide rail for the window, the bottom window rail that is part of the window regulator.

I replaced the door check assembly, bent a bunch of metal, and epoxied the regulator component. Everything worked except for the epoxy. I probably didn’t let it cure for long enough. Will probably have to swap out the whole regulator unless I can find just that bottom rail.

Also, I finally got around to adjusting my break pedal height as an attempt to avoid a master cylinder rebuild. Spongy brakes are completely gone! They are like new after 10 minutes or so fiddling around with the height. Can’t believe I didn’t try that sooner - what an upgrade.

Lastly, I ordered a set of sliders from BIOR. Long lead time though, so I may not get them on until the end of February.

Next up (besides the stupid window regulator) will be a CarPlay head unit. I’d love to keep the factory speakers and amp, but folks say there are grounding issues because of a lack of common ground between the stereo and chassis. May try it anyways, so if anyone has tips on how to keep the amp and do some grounding trickery, I’m all ears.

....aaaaaand I picked up a set of weather tech mats. Got them (1st and 2nd row) for just under $150 from my local Toyota dealership!

Did you get the mats or the liners? I just got the liners and they don't fit that great. Very curious since you also own a 98 LX. The liners have one hook hole on the drivers side only. But, my 98 has 2 hooks on both the drivers and passenger side. Mine would slide towards the door because they have no traction on the bottom. I rigged up a solution though.

Well darn. Mine were ordered by the dealership and are now ready for pickup. I did the 3D liners and assume I have the same problem.

What’s your fix?

I bought some clear "runner" from HomeDepot. It's plastic with little clear "teeth" on one side (found in the carpet department). Bought a 2 foot length for $4. Cut strips and 3m double-side taped onto bottom of liners. They grip now and don't "pivot" out of the door. Easy fix, but annoying that WeatherTech didn't put some type of grippy material on the underside to keep it from sliding out the door. Other than that, you're going to like them. I had the mats before and the liners definitely provide more coverage. You got a GREAT deal as well.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll do the same thing as you. Did you also cut holes for the existing two floor mat hooks (mine has two per side as well)?

Yeah, somehow I talked the guy at the parts desk down while he was ordering me the door check assembly. He ended up price matching the door check ($50 discount), then just kept adding more discounts to it and the mats the longer we talked.

Will definitely be going back there to order parts in the future. So much cheaper than my local Lexus dealer.

I get all my parts from the Toyota dealership as well. They are always less expensive....though the cookies aren't as good as at the Lexus dealer.

I didn't add any holes to my mats. The hooks are basically vestigial at this point. Only the one on the drivers side is used. The others are under the liners, but don't interfere at all. I didn't want to cut any holes in the liner that might negatively impact their ability to keep dirt/mud/etc. from my carpet.

Ran across your build thread looking for slinky suspension info for the 100 series. Post an intro on our club page and come out on a trail run or two.

CO- Colorado Land Cruisers

Nice build, I would like to check it out in person as I might be making the 100 leap myself.

Thanks! Just posted in the intro thread. Would love to come out to a meet up! Have called the folks at Red Line about some possible work on my hundo, so serves as a perfect excuse to get out that way. ;)

Impulse-bought an OEM fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator in a likely misplaced attempt to squeeze MPG’s. Also on that useless list is replacing spark plugs, cleaning MAF sensor/housing/intake manifold, and cleaning/mapping my fuel injectors.

Word on the street is that those things can make you king of the mpgs. I’ll probably install them this weekend.

I’m also brain-storming future suspension plans, anticipating that my AHC globes will soon need to be replaced and that my weight with added roof rack, rooftop tent, and bumpers will be too much for it to handle. Sending out an SOS to more knowledgeable folks on that one. @PADDO

What rear springs do you have? Stock? Solutions are to add a heavier spring or air bags. I've had good luck loaded down with my King springs, Ebay for ~$200ish. I don't know how much stiffer then are and I don't know how much weight I was running. 4 adults and all their gear for a week. 2K miles and drove like a Cadillac.

My future plans are for a rear bumper, shelves inside so we'll see how they hold up, could add a spacer or maybe some heavy OME's. Will see. My AHC is holding up well wheeling, with the spacer lift in the front only. With the rear spacers installed I could never get her to sit level.
