Have not done much of anything on the 60, picked up a 78 40 series and am hoping to have it back on the road for Jan. so funding is being spread pretty thin lately.
Finished off the air filter with some foam

All hail the Fab-Master! Seriously though, your work is amazing! I look at all the work you've done and feel like an idiot for even having to contemplate doing a full knuckle rebuild.

So what happens if you cross a river and a wave of water splashes over the hood and into the scoop?:hhmm:

Dis you powder all your metal trim pieces?

Water would have to be chest deep.. but i guess i would be swimming.
Nothing new with the 60, the 40 we bought is coming along, slow, but moving forward.
We are going through most of the drivetrain, however the body tub will just be skinned over for now.

bad idea on shortening it yourself...not many people would weld on a used gas tank, it'll ignite like that...IMO, I would say start from scratch, I know you don't wanna hear it but I'd recomend it. Good luck with all.

Dunno if it's true, maybe someone can tell me, BUT many years ago I heard that if you had to weld on a gas tank you filled it with water and had at it.

I have heard the same thing, the person who did it said it flashes up on occasion. Personally I would make one out of aluminum.

Sent from my apple IIe using msdos

I've done it. Very stressful to say the least. I washed the tank with laundry detergent like 15 times. then filled it with water. I was scared out of my mind, but it worked out no problemo.

I cant say I'd do it for a living, but I think its (relatively) safe... with the water, there's nothing to combust.
