I'm going to catch hell for this, but.... I'm doing a receiver mount style. A couple of reasons.

I will need a winch a handful of times for my level of adventure. It will rot on the vehicle if left out in the weather, and won't work when I NEED it to. (I know my luck, I've been toting this miserable no luck bag of meat around for 42 years 😆)
Flexibility. My modifying a M416 turned into just starting over from scratch. I'm putting a receiver tube in the back of it, and all four corners just to keep mounting stuff, leveling, and winch options open.
And, I can weld a tube on the gooseneck trailer and the skid loader trailer, then break it out for when my penchant for rusty turd wagons bites me in the ass.

Commence butt reaming. 😆

I'm stupid excited for this trip.
My buddy Chris is also super excited.

I think the dog is indifferent. She's happy so long as somebody pets her.

As far as I’m concerned, you can do whatever you want with a winch as long as I get a chance to throw a few sticks for that vizsla to run after.

Yes I am. Last year I decided to pull my vote for the Mustard back for Freeborn. I wanted to make sure that any color besides the green and blue win. So if the Freeborn voters from last year would so kindly return the favor this year, that would be great.

Got in, have been wanting to do this one for the past few years but haven't been able to.

Now I just need a place to stay lol
I reserved an additional RV pad last night. Still showing availability. Camping is full.

Ok thanks. I'd be camping
The campsite I had reserved last year no longer existed when I arrived so management placed me in a RV spot. Despite being completely gravel, it was actually quite a nice spot for a tent.

As fyi I received the below response from KOA when inquiring about getting a camp site assigned near the group.

“Hi there. We don't see a group block for you all which means everyone must've booked individually so we have no way of knowing who's in the group. Wish we could be more of a help.”

Any suggestions on sites if I were to ask for something specific?

I tried calling and believe they may be ‘closed’ for winter. You can send them an email. I stated that I was with the SAS7 group of Land Cruisers per Casey’s suggestion.

It’s been the back side area 45-55d
I haven’t been able to go for Sas but our favorite spot is 47 f when we stay there.

Spoke to the GM and he suggested for 2024 getting a group block and taking advantage of the 20% discounted rate(s) in addition to making sure the SAS group is clustered best as possible.
Also, they’re working on additional overflow parking that (🤞) should be completed by May.

Yeah, that was the email response when I mentioned being with the group...I'll try again!

The main registration and gathering place will be at KOA Ouray but you aren't required to stay there. There are many places to stay in the Ouray, Ridgeway CO. area.

47e and 47f are basically the penthouse suites of the whole campground.

47a is the McVicker suite

The sites-that-became-tepees between 45 and 62B (which had been very good sites before their conversion) have been deleted completely. Weird. That was a solid 4-5 sites worth of real estate.
